mf windshield
I was on the highway, a god damn truck flys past me at 80+, kicks a big *** rock at my windshield. BOOM.
**** me.
Question: The crack is about a square centemeter, the spider web is about 1.5 square inches, and it is very very deep almost all the way through.
IS IT FIXABLE? I know its hard to tell without pics, but just imagine it to be pretty ****** bad, but not that big. When i press on it, the spider web expands.
Help? thanks

I've been told that if the crack is smaller than the area of a dollar bill its fixable. Don't know how true it is but thats what the shop who fixed mine told me. Usaully insurance will pay for repairs without you paying the deductable.
However, yours sounds borderline as the spiderweb expands easily. Take it to a shop and get it assessed.

Same thing actually happened to me the other day. Did you get the tag # from the truck etc and file a police report. Thats what I did and insurance not only covered a new windshield but also threw in some $ to repaint my hood if i choose too.
did the truck have mud flaps or a cover on the load? if not your windheild is paid.
As for fixing glass... Techincally there is not such thing unless you melt it again
Time for a new glass, I have preformed many repairs and some have lasted but many don't make it past 3 months. Be sure to have a GOOD glass shop replace the glass and provide a warrant with the work. Rust can become a big factor when replacing Windshields.
do some research before just getting new glass.

Rob, would that polymer stuff they use to "fill" chips and cracks at least keep the spiderwebs from spreading? I know it would still be visible, but if it extends the useful life of the glass...

All of the windshield repairs that I've had done (and I've had quite a few - bad luck I suppose) have completely prevented the damage from spreading and have been nearly undetectable in most cases, even after a couple of years of heat and cold. I greatly prefer having a repair done rather than breaking the factory seal and having new glass installed, unless the damage simply cannot be repaired by my glass repair tech.

i live in NJ and have Geico. I was told it is unfixible because the web is not circular, but a "sparkling" crack that is going outwards.

if you can't get it replaced immediately I would recommend patching it to slow the spread of the crack. Same thing happened to me earlier this year and a tiny pock in the glass turned into a completely split (seriously, bisected) windshield in a 3 hour span on a hot day while I was in class.
