Spent 5 grand on a Golden Eagle motor to get a bad water pump!!
I need to vent.
I just spent over 5 grand with golden eagle mfg to build me a complete motor.
Sleeved B18B1 84mm block, Arias pistons, eagle rods, fully built head, ported and polished etc etc etc.
So I’m excited to get the motor in after waiting since December for it, I dropped the motor in, put everything back together, started to fill up the radiator, and what do you know, coolant was pissing out of the weep hole on the water pump. So, I'm like WTF? They built the motor with a bad water pump, now the water pump that I provided to them was almost brand new and in perfect working condition when I took it off the stock block. So why would you put another water pump on a brand new block, or not even recommend a new pump, or inspect the pump before putting it on is beyond me. A $30 part could have saved me a lot of time and money.
I called and spoke with both Roberts, and got no place with them.
Everyone is so nice to you over there when they are taking your money,
But when something needs to be done customer satisfaction wise for an upset customer, you will get nothing.
Thank you, I'm done now.

IM Vince@GoldenEagleMfg.Com on here, he'll be able to help you out.
So lets get this straight, you are mad at golden eagle because they installed a used pump that you provided to them to be installed? If so how is it golden eagles responsibility if your used pump fails?

i would be upset too if the pump i sent them was working. Then when I got it, it was leaking. I bet you'd be happy though.

It's not that hard to change a water pump.
and who spends 5k on an engine setup to use a USED water pump?

I just said the pump I sent them was almost new and working fine.
I don't think they put MY pump back on, thats my point.

No ****, thats why I said if they would have told me something was wrong with the pump, I would have got them a new one, but GE told me my used pump would be fine.

Frank,
I sincerely apologize for the trouble. I was under the impression that the water pump I installed onto your motor was the same one you sent in. Usually, a water pump will be fine to re-use, especially one that looked to be in good shape as yours did. I, personally, always recommend using a new water pump on a motor build, but my instructions were to re-use the existing pump.
Regardless, when you father called our shop, we offered to send him a new water pump. He then proceeded to tell us that he had already replaced the pump with another and had someone install it. Why he didn't call us in the first place is beyond me. We would have gladly replaced the pump free of charge, no questions asked.
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase, so I have let our sales guys know that if you ever need anything else, we would give you a discounted price on whatever you order and free shipping in hopes to compensate for your trouble.
Engine building is my passion and happy customers are my end goal. If you ever have any problems with anything we supply you, please give us a call right away. We are always here to help.
Again, my apologies for the trouble. I want to be sure you are 100% happy with your purchase.
p.s. This build took a very long time due to ARP being out of stock on LS head studs. Lightning Motorsports, who we buy the ARP studs from, was trying his best to get us what we needed as fast as he could, but when ARP is out, then we had to wait. I also wanted to apologize for the lengthy delay on delivery for your block, but it was completely out of our hands. I hope you understand?
Thanks.

First of I wouldnt spend 5k on a motor, and then be stupid enough to use on old waterpump. He sent them a used water pump that he told them was fine, Why should they "test" the waterpump. Golden eagle went on the assumption that the pump was in good working condition, and I doubt they tried giving this guy a bad pump, and kept his supposed good pump. This thread is a waste, the original poster needs to get a new pump, learn how to install it, and go run his new 5k motor. Then make a wothwhile post about how bad golden eagle is when His motor drops a sleve or starts leaking. I doubt we will hear from him again. Vince at golden eagle always does his best to take care of the customer.

THE PUMP WAS WORKING FINE WHEN I SENT IT TO THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LEARN HOW TO READ!!
I did ask Robert if they wanted a new pump, and he said no the stock one was fine. So at that point im thinking that GE knows best.
On a side note, thank you Vince for the reply.

If 5k was going into a motor, I'd be the moron making sure I didn't use a USED water pump. It should go without saying. love, -Moron.

i wonder how many more people are going to say they wouldnt spend $5000 on a motor and then use a used water pump.i dont think he needs to hear the same damn thing from 10 different people, shuuuutt uuuupppp
im sure if someone at a shop said,"your water pump will be fine to use,it looks to be in good condition," you would probably use the pump too.but if the guy at the shop said,"i highly recommend you use a NEW water pump," im sure frankie would have had them put a new pump on there.he spent $5000 on his motor, whats another $100???

Yeah, that's my point too. If you took a "perfect" water pump in to them, then they're going to take your word for it. Now that the part YOU BROUGHT IN is the problem, I don't think you should be blaming or "venting" about how Golden Eagle are such bad people.
Way to turn the situation around on someone else. That's my point, and I just made it.

So you didn't start the car and it didn't over heat? I would just get a brand new OEM water pump and run the car--nothing bad happened, I know it can be frustrating but alot worse things have happened after people paid big bucks for motors (like spun bearings)
Oh damn, I just got owned by the black helicopter conspiracy theory.
Those damn GE people always sabotaging used oil pumps.
Look to the first fault, and not the possible 10th
