What's the difference between Honda coolant vs aftermarket ?
The Honda coolant does not have silicates, and a couple of other things that can clog (??? these particles are in microns) the water pump. A few aftermarket coolants have the same, I think Texaco and Prestone has one that are free from those solids. Sierra is another one.
Honda coolant = rip off. You can get coolant like Prestone, Peak, etc., for $5 from you local auto-part store and it WORKS THE SAME.

Same thing with the MTF. I don't know of any significant tranny design changes from 1996 and 1997.
1996? and older manuals calls for 10w-30 or 10w-40 motor oil. And since they 'developed' their MTF and spent $$$ marketing, labeling, and etc. They now swear by it.
The Peak pre-mixed 50/50 I'm using lists silicates in the ingredients. I'm guessing I should change it?
I know at least one guy who had a water pump fail and is pretty sure it was due to silicates.
