Air Conditioner Problem
I got 00-1117 in September of 04. I'm going through my first heat wave in it now. The AC isn't really very good. Sometimes it's ice cold, but sometimes (heavy traffic/hot day) it's runs pretty weak. Have I got a problem, or is this normal for this car?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Sounds "kinda normal".
Does the 2nd fan on the radiator come on when you hit the A/C? If the fan wasn't working right, the AC would suck when you stop.

Hehe, I was going to go there, but I had A/C for about 6 years.

A good friend of mine works at a dealership, he told me that when I came to him with the same problem the thread starter has.
Oh yea, I have owned all the hondas in the world.

Honda A/C compressors are very well designed. They do not need recharging every few years like other cars. The compressors from other cars are designed to consume the fluid in the compressor where hondas are not. As long as you have fluid in the compressor, it should get down to 42 degrees. The only reason you would need to recharge is if you have a leak in which case you need to fix that before you can expect to freeze your nuts off in your car. Have fun!
As a sidenote, I blew up the A/C compressor on my R swap (I had to use a D series compressor) and am in the process of replacing it. If you have a leak and don't want the headache of fixing it, steve at hmotorsonline is senting me a compressor for $50. It might be more for yours because it is bigger, but still pretty cheap!

I say get a recharge can from wal-mart or an autoparts store. Make sure it has a gauge. Make sure you connect it to the low pressure side. Follow the instructions. I know honda compressors are supposed to be good but if it's blowing warm air, that's not normal. I had a civic dx before and the clutch fell off while I was driving.
just my .02, If you have sufficient refrigerant, then it has to be something else

Holy **** how did that happen?
As far as mine goes, I opened up my hood and on the AC line itself I saw bubbling. Found the hole and gotta replace it before this damn florida heat kills me further.

I was driving w/the a/c on and heard a loud clank. Then a thump on the floor board. I stopped and popped the hood and just saw a pulley on the a/c compressor. It's still a mystery.

That is strange because that is the same thing that happen to my compressor. I was driving down the street and heard a small bang under then hood, then something fell out of the engine bay and hit the ground. Turns out it was the A/C clutch.

Same thing happened on my buddy's RSX. But we all know RSXs are crap.
