How do you tighten the emergency hand brake on a 2001 civic?
Hi! I was just wondering if anyone knew how to tighten the emergency hand brake on a 2001 civic? I was told that it wasn't difficult at all and I figure I'd rather do it myself than take in for service. Thanks!
yea if u have racing seats take them out, if u want to work with a pit more space get a ratchet and a 17 or 19 mm bit to take that retarded armrest off. pop off the 2 front little clips, and tear down the trim panels up top next to teh shifter (righ over the corner) slide both seats forward if their stock and at the bottom corners there are screws, there are also 2 screws up from where u took the panel cover things off. now get a realm skinny flat screwdiriver and a shirt and wedge in right behind the shifter in that little cap, now that little cneter part will come out and theres 2 more screws under there, take those out, no life the console from the back so it unhooks from the upper console in the from and pulll it out backwards. at the botton you will see 2 cables coming fomr theing back go into like a metal bar, and one going out from there, behyind that 1 cable there will be a 10 mm nut that you need to turn. I have mine tightened where if i put my car in D (its auto) and pull the brake up 2 clicks it doesnt go anywhere.
goodluck, and get like 2-3 beers for the job, lights are prefered, you dont want to start getting aggravated when ur putting a honda back together while ur drunk, lol, so grab a few smokes too
