88-89 hf bumper support is like the jdm one it weighs like 1 pound its just a piece of sheet metal to hang the bumper on you could probably bend it just by leaning on it, the 90-91 hf/dx/si and 88-89 si seem to have the same support the big heavy box one, i think they had to change in 90 for crash saftey reasons, they are slightly different b/c the lights in the bumper are different

Are you sure?

http://www.theautochannel.com/....html

Is this site inaccurate then? (picture wise..)

Obviously I want to buy the least expensive one if I can get away with it.

Here guys. I think I can help.

Beam #20 and Absorber #9 (upper left corner) is what was original for the 1988-1991 CRX DX/Si

Beam #10 (behind bumper cover in diagram) is what was original for the 1988-1991 CRX HF

I cannot answer why there is a difference, but I can confirm there is one, and for those trims listed above.

There is a different part number difference (and a big price difference) between the 88-89 HF and 90-91 HF

I don't see anything in that pic that looks like the 90-91 HF front bumper support, its tubular, not stamped steel.

go with the lightest one or custom make your own brackets. i have my bumper secured with super zip ties and it looks fine, i wouldnt feel right lugging around 25-30 extra pounds in the front and the rear of the car for a piece of metal that was designed to protect your car in crashes 5-10 mph....

I know. I have a 1991 HF myself. That photo is from a Honda parts website, and what is used at all Honda parts departments.

What you need to realize is that most of the time these diagrams are "on the money", they are not always verbatim in regards to what the part actually looks like.

I never really rely on the way the diagram looks when I am troubleshooting parts for customers. I try to look at the part in person if I can.

Yes, you are correct on that, I failed to mention that in my post.

OK, 90-91 is tubular... Good to know.

I'm thinking I may go with the 90-91. I plan on hanging my intercooler off of the support. I doubt the 88-89 would be upto the job.
