94 Teg- Shifting to reverse causes a big "jump".
Just got this 94 teg used, so I was glad I could finally join an enthusiast forum...but now I'm depressed that my first post is one of these "help me!" posts =/.Anyway, I test drove the car on 7/21, drove to the end of the street (a dead end), pulled into someones driveway, reversed out, pulled up to the front of my house and went on inspecting the car. It's in great condition aside from, today I was sitting in the car, and I turned it on for pride reasons, and my stepdad wanted to see if it would fit into the garage, so I stuck it into reverse and "BAAM". The entire car shook as this loud noise came from under the hood. The car still reversed, but if I put it to park, then to reverse again it made the same noise (checking to see if it's a fluke).
So yes, I was wondering if my transmission is going to bust, or if anyone had any other ideas.
In park it revs from 1.5k to 2k.
I haven't checked the revs when it jumps, for fear of braking it.
is it an automatic...you said have it in "park" so I guess it is.
check your transmission fluid, and also your rear motor mount and front lower torque mounts.
When looking at the motor mounts, look to see if there are any cracks or rips in the bushing.

Yes, it's an automatic. (Unfortunately I'm a noob
) I'll go check out those things. I'll get back to you ASAP.
Hey, my cousin's dad took a look at it and said there's no problem, I'm just not letting it warm up enough first. Apparently I'm way too newb for my own good. Anyway, it idles at 1k after warming up, so all's good. I'm still going to have the ATF flushed and oil changed tomorrow, since it is a used car.

yea it could be possibly your ATF. Last time when I flushed my trucks ATF, didn't put enough ATF and the car slipped a bit and jolted everytime I either slap it in reverse or drive.
