I towed a 1600lb car with my 97 Accord SE Auto up and down hills with no problem just start off in the lower gears with the automatic. Im assuming the car was 1600lbs. It was a 1984 Corolla Hatchback SR5. Overall it was not a problem. Also I had 3 passengers including myself in the car. The brakes might overheat a little quicker due to higher momentum. Just anticipate the braking early. Shoudn't have a problem with 2k lbs. Good Luck Also all of your moving items shouldn't be equal to 2k lbs. Luckily theres no snow either right now.

I will add a hitch and tow a uhaul trailer. I am hoping for about 20mpg and I do not plan on using 4th gear on the tranny so the fastest I will be able to go is about 55mph.

edit: How far did you tow the car? I am going about 650 miles.

i would also add an aftermarket tranny oil cooler... & perform a drain/refill before/after the trip... but that may be excessive.

that little heat exhcanger built into the radiator may be sufficient & may just do the ATF drain/refill...<shrugs>

Yeah if it is an automatic I would add a tranny cooler. Changing fluid before and after the tow isnt really nessasary in my book because if the cooler is there the tranny should stay somewhat cooler than it does under normal driving even with the extra weight.

I'll be driving at night and I really do not want to be adding a cooler to the car. I might even go with a 4*6 trailer if I can find one. (not likely)
