is Kenwood X-810D amp 1-ohm stable?
I own 4 Kenwood X-810D amps and am selling one with a Kenwood competition 11" sub to my friend. He wants to have a friend install it, but he told me today that he wouldn't wire up the amp/sub because the sub would be wired to 1.5 ohms (it is dual 3-ohm voice coils), and he said this would fry the amp. I think this is BS. I've always been under the impression, and read, and heard from Kenwood that this amp is 1 ohm stable. Any comments?
According to the Kenwood specs. it is not stable below 2 ohms ftp://docs.kenwoodusa.com/03brochure...nExc_Broch.pdf if it was they would give you the wattage at 1 ohm.

they do give the wattage at 1 ohm. I have had the official Kenwood manual for the X810D on my hard drive for about a year, and it shows 800 watts @ 2 ohms, 1000 watts @ 1 ohm

4 ohm @ 14.4V 400 watts x 1 20Hz - 200Hz 0.5% THD
2 ohm @ 14.4V 800 watts x 1 100Hz 0.5% THD
4 ohm @ 12V 300 watts x 1 20Hz - 200Hz 0.5% THD
2 ohm @ 12V 600 watts x 1 100Hz 0.5% THD
maximum Output Power 1600watts x 1
And as they give 1 ohm outputs for the other amps on the sheet and not this amp would lead me to belive that it is not stable to 1 ohm

is it the x-810d or x-811d, if the 11... then it has over 1000rms at 1ohm. and yes.. stable.
I am seeing however... that the 810d is 1ohm stable from some websites at 1000rms
Until Kenwood updates their site, which will probably be by next february.. We will have to guess or go to dealers... But I do not trust Kenwood's specs online from their site, they are usually mislabled and understated. IE Xmax of 9mm the 1025db sub.. when it is still going strong at around 1.5 inches not half..

well, after speaking to a local Kenwood dealer and a Kenwood tech, they both said it is made to operate at 2 ohms, but have known many people to run it at 1.5 with no problems. the Kenwood tech even said he is 100% sure it will not fry at 1.5 ohms, and he will even cover it under warranty if something does happen (got his name etc.). I believe this, as Kenwood has been wonderful with me in the past regarding all other warrantied products. I will have my friend try it and see what happens

good luck, tune it right, and run it through its paces for a while at long periods, if it is gonna fail, which I doubt... you might as well find out right away in testing/tuning.
on a side note... I am in love with the kdc-x889... even without the extra effects and features.. its sounds much better than my last 859... and that one was great too.
to separate front and rear 4 band EQ settings
