thanks for all your answers, help etc

as far as head internals you should stick with the stock cams. Stronger valve springs, new valves, port and polish will help air flow and strength. If u live in CA bayarea i got a 96 gsr head for sale. i was going to go all motor but suddenly turbo flu hit me...
HTH
IM me if ur interested about the head...trying to get rid of it ASAP.

If money permits:
You can grap the B16 head/manifold, get the I/E ports polished only(not ported), swap in the GSR cams, upgrade the valve springs and ...
switch your exhaust valves (if not intake too) to stainless steel.
It would also be nice to swap out the GSR pistons for a set of LS 9.5 or 9.2 to 1 pistons with brand new rings. (if you don't have the flow to build fully)
You should be good for 8-9 psi on the stock bottom end.
Shouldn't cost too much either.....it'll be ready for some boost.
