Default About the 5 lug conversion, are they STOLEN?

I've always wondered this.. with all the civics with the 5 lug conversions.. where do they get them from.

1. Car was in an accident and totalled, so the guy sells the 5 lug conversion.
2. JDM ITR and CTR <-- expensive!
3. Guy owns type r and sells his conversion <--- this we know does not happen, or I haven't seen it.

So what does it come down to? Are most of the 5 lug conversions from stolen ITR's?

A large percentage of them.....yes. (Waits for all the screaming H-T'ers to come running saying how they have legit 5-lug swaps). It's one of the dirty little secrets in the Honda community. When you see an EG that has Type R this and Type R that, chances are some shady **** went on.

There's a kid locally that let's just say we have our "suspicions" about. Obviously you can't point fingers unless you have solid proof but none the less I don't trust him. Unfortunately it's a fact of life no matter what "scene" you're into. I'd love to catch some ****** some day though. I guarantee my car would be the last one he ever touched. See what you did! You have me all riled up now! Ughh.....

And bigger brakes......still not worth it if you ask me. You can upgarde a 4-lug brake system for cheaper and have better brakes. But then you don't have the "I have a 5-lug" bragging rights. What a dilemna.

In Puerto rico 80% of the hondas there are now 5 lug. Are they all stolen? HELL NO!!! They are swapping the spindles and redrilling thier rotors just so can use the acura TL 5 lug wheels.

true, cant really blame the person when they buy it off someone that sold it to them ( it goes with any parts you buy on the streets and shops ) how would you ever know?! just a thought

I'll buy hot parts (although I dont have any and probably wont buy any since Im pretty much done modding my car). If I dont buy it, someone else will, so why not get a deal while you have the chance.

A lot of people have stolen parts on their ride but they just choose not to think too hard about it. Everyone knows if a deal came through dirt cheap for a 5 lug conversion, they'll pick it up. If anyone is shady, it should be the sellers.
