Details of the 05 Si
Hi, all first time posting here, looking into getting an 05 Si i understand they are called the EP3 if I'm correct, I apologize in advanced this is all quite new to me as I'm more of a Domestic car owner/tuner, anyways, Just a few questions, before i begin getting in depth into looking/falling in love with this vehicle, I was recently involved in a bit of an auto accident, with my 02 focus zx5, the nose was destroyed, 3700 in damage, with minimal unibody damage, I was told by my uncle who is a mechanic with over 30 years experience in building cars and repairing cars, that before I begin looking into anything, I should really ask around and see how the radiator supports are built as the foci's are quite flimsy, the accident I was involved in (thankfully not my fault, nor was I injured) was only at about 10-15 miles an hour however the car sustained some good damage, I was just curious if any of you have any autobody experience under the bumpers of these things, such as the re-enforcement bars amongst other things... I see the crash test ratings from the NHTSA are pretty good, but I want to hear it from the horses mouth so to speak Just want something that is a little more sturdy i mean thank god it was a small crash but there was signifigant damage... onto other things, I was also interested to know about the availability for performance parts for these vehicles, I know honda has a huge Aftermarket backing, I was just curious what companies are the best for the usual stuff (I,H,E) so forth... any help is appreciated thank you.
register as a member and search through http://www.ephatch.com if you don't get much attention. as far as the construction of the body, i can't really give you any technical information. however, i know the crash tests on this car are pretty respectable.
aftermarket accessories are starting to appear a lot more. some things are also compatible with the RSX (OEM parts and the occasional aftermarket parts). hopefully that will give you a little insight and answer a few questions.

cool thanks a lot, what is known about like intakes and stuff, I know AEM is a very respectable company for intakes, but who are good for exhausts/springs and stuff like that?
I was recently involved in an accident with my EP3. Some one rear ended me at about 15 M.P.H. He also pushed me into the car in front of me. The only thing wrong is a bent and scratched rear bumper and a scratched front bumper. This car is excellent and durable. If you don't know much I suggest going for an HFP Kit for the SI. It is a full coilover suspension that drops the car 1 inch. Full body kit and 17 inch rims. Best of all its from Honda so its fully warrenteed and the install it. It does not void a single warrenty. here's the link. Hope this helps. You can spend a little and get a comptech Icebox Intake and comptech exhaust. These are also installed by the dealership and do not void warrentees either. All other mods will. With these mods your set until you know more.

I have a 2004 SI and a neuspeed p-flo intake on it. I love the intake, very responsive throtle response and great sound. I just ordered a MagnaFlow cat-back and hi-flow cat so can't wait to try that out. I hear it has a deep mellow sound instead of the usual coffee can sound. I'm planning on getting a DC ceramic header and lower springs/coil-overs when money permits. That's my one gripe with the EP3, the stance. Way too high, needs to be dropped at least 1.5 to get the wheel well gap looking correct.
