Default Stereo Newb, What to do for a 2000 SI Setup? EM1

OK, I have no idead what i need when it comes to upgrading speakers and what amps i need...etc...

I would just take it to a stereo place, but 1:they can be really shady and 2: they could do a poor wiring job and i wouldn't know the difference.

So I have a 2000 Civic SI, and I want to get some better sound, the speakers that are in the car (stock) just dont have much power, or kick.

I don't want to do much modification (cutting moldings etc...)

I have a pioneer headunit, and was thinking I should upgrade the 6x9's in the back, the lower door panel speakers, and maybe the tweeters on the upper side of the door near the rear view. Will i need to get upgraded wires? amp?

I cant spend TONS of money, but understand quality isn't cheap.

Thanks!

Cliffs:

Have pioneer headunit, wanna upgrade the system. tell me what i should get (amps/speakers/tweeters...etc...)

u don't really need an amp unless you're listening to your music super loud. The HU usually covers the power up to a certain volume. Just upgrade the doors to some aftermarket components and drop in some nice 6x9's if u don't want any subs.

here's what you should get 6.5 components for the front, decent 6x9's for the rear, and a 200-300 watt amp to power all the speakers. with this setup not only you play it super loud but also with "clarity." as for upgrading wires i'd suggest adding 14awg wire from the radio harness to the amp. personally, running new speaker wires through the molex connectors takes a good amount of work.

6.5's will fit with a lil modifying of the door panel. its not that hard at all. you just need a dremel and trim the edges where the speakers go so that the 6.5's can fit. thats what i did. and for the wires, you add the speakers wires from the "vehicle's radio harness" not the harness from the h/u. sorry if thats not clear. thats about it. gl.

I just went with 2 JL 10" subs and 60 X 5 Alpine head unit. The factory speakers respond pretty well to any higher powered aftermarket head unit. The subs fill in the low end. It doesn't sound bad at all though IMO. If you need a little bit more power....just amp up the front and rear speakers in combination with the box. The money you don't spend on speakers can help make you go faster

(btw, this was in my 2000 ex)
