Pimp my ride - 4dr 95 GSR
My 95 gsr was stolen last month. When the SFPD recovered it, the alarm, stereo, amps, speakers, air filter, and rear seat was pulled out. WTF on the back seat? They even pryed off my VTEC emblem. F'n bastards.
To move on, I see this as the perfect chance to upgrade a stock 95 GSR sedan with 120K miles on it. It'll be an everyday car, but fast = good. I have about $6k to use on this project.
I need help figuring out
1. what to buy
2. where to bring it
I live in SF and need help finding shops in the bay area to do the work.
Wish list:
Engine - Turbo, the works but street-legal
Exterior - JDM front, body work and paint
Interior - Replace the stolen parts and fix the plastic mouldings they ripped apart to get under the dash
I've done searches and read the forums, so try to go easy on the flaming.

Halozero - do you mean that $6k is not enough? How much do turbos cost? $2-3k? I can do without the new front and save another $2500. Let's just focus on the engine then. Give me something constructive.
You're gonna drop $6k into a car that is still depreciating in value from maybe $5k if you're lucky? Not smart!
Find something else to do with the money...otherwise you're just pissing it away. At least put it into a car that's stable and worth some money.
I just don't understand why people drop as much cash on Integras and Civics as they do...worthless...you'll never get the money back from these cars!

NEW cars depreciate in value whereas classic, collectible cars (i.e. cars worth dropping $6k into) are either flat or appreciate in value!
Now if you're building a race-only car, I say go for it! Going fast on the track costs money. But for a daily driver (and your only car) err on the conservative side so it wont blow up again.

i agree. there's much better things to do with your money instead of pissing it away on a car.
it all comes down to a hobby, but i see people from my area do up one car and almost instantly they sell it for a huge loss and do another one up. the question to my mind is why? why not take the time to enjoy what you have built first?
i have wasted a lot of time and money on my DC2 but thats on the thought that i would never sell it. i've been tempted though. especially when i know someone that is willing to give up their 99 accord v6 coupe for literally the same money i can sell my 95 integra gsr for stock. then i can slowly part my rims, exhaust system and everything else and get back some of my money and hang onto cash.
but hey, if the original poster is that dedicated and want to bring the car back to life, then props to you.

you do know that all old cars were once new cars and that investing money into a newer car if you held the car for long enough it would either stay flat or appreciate aswell but you are right for the most part you never get the money back you invest into a car
