I just bought a 89 dx and i want to put the 1.6 head on it. Does anybody know what this involves and what I need to do?

 

88-91 1.6 head?

nothing, really....but its not really worth it IMO. I'd just do the dpfi - mpfi swap (do a search) b/c I think the si/dx heads are pretty similar...someone correct me if I'm wrong...

 

All that is different is the camshaft.

 

I thought that if I changed the heads it would leave me open for more mods down the road. Also is it just the camshaft that is different?

 

Are you talking about the SOHC VTEC head from the 92-93 Si's? If so do a search for 'mini-me' there are lots of threads on here.

 

Heads are basically identical...

cam is slightly more aggressive on the 1.6.. and i mean slightly... I have a si & dx cam and you can barely tell the difference when looking at them...

MPFI swap is the one that you need to lead you to other mods...

Now if you had an HF engine youd just be plain fuct

 

keep the head the same and just change the mpfi unit. it will bolt directly up to the dx head. then go and do the mpfi wiring change.

 

but if u were like me and had a std head ud change the ****** quick damn std 70 hp motor not anymore
