Default Holy ****, Overrevved jdm b18c..Couple questions

Setup: '95 JDM b18c OBD 1, skunk 2 intake manifod, intake, chipped p28 ecu (9200 rpm rev limiter), exedy 8lb flywheel, act xtss clutch kit, b16 tranny.

Tonight my foot got a little antsey and getting onto the interstate i decided i was gonna mash it, merging over (safely ) i'm at the top of 3rd gear and i'm shifting to fourth gear and viola..

i went to second not giving any ******* attention..I caught the mistake and my engine didn't even hit the rev limiter.. Just a slight jerk and i pushed the clutch in and went to fourth and it was all done with.

The motor is fine.. not making any noises, no smoke, no rod knock.. But i know this wasn't healthy and i would of been fucked if it would've bent some valves, etc.

Did i just get lucky?? Should i check anything out??

I plan on changing the oil tomorrow.. First time i've ever made a dumbass mistake like this and i'm a little paranoid..

I know some people have done this before, help me out..!

As long as you dident hit the rev limiter you should be alright, I've missed a few times before cause of my shitty trans. I dont get how you were going to shift into forth and missed going into second tho, Why would you even want to do that if you were topped out in third?

think u guys need to learn how to drive . well if you dont have any funky noises coming from the motor and it drives like it use to then its fine.

Yep, no ones perfect.. I made a mistake and it could of cost me a ******* 3500.00 motor.

That's the thing.. I didn't mean to do it.. I was going to fourth and somehow i ended up in second for like .3894 of a second

Wtf? learn how to drive?.. people make mistakes.
I'm asking for suggestions from people who have done this before, keep the negativity to your self..

Thanks

yea if no noises i wouldn't worry. Im a paranoid person too, but revvin ur motor out to 9200 on stock valvetrian is NOT healthy either. i wouldn't take it past 8200 to be on the safe side but thats just me. Spend the 500 to get valvetrian man, it'll give u piece of mind

even tho itll get changed out with the motor, i love my long-geared VX tranny...******* **** me off on the highway, shift it down to 2nd and fly right by 'em (i can do about 130 KM/H in 2nd, made it to 160 in third but shut it down, even thogh it ws still pretty damn far from the limiter)

If your still running your all good. My buddy dropped his ITR from 3rd to 2nd at redline meaning to go into 4th... at full throttle. Car just shut off. We got around to pulling the head the other day. TOTAL loss... two of the valves broke and fused to the head. There is a hole in the first piston. All valves are bent in some way, pistons are chewed up and the cylinder walls are fucked up bad. So, your damn lucky.

what he said haha i don't get it either. I noticed my hand is placed different when shifter into 2nd and into 4th. into 2nd my wrist is slightly slanted towards the left wheel, and 4th is cake so i just coast it back into fourth and wrist is slanted toward right wheel. I know that sounds crazy, maybe i am

Now that you mention it, I do something similar. For all gear changes (besides 3rd to 4th, ) my hand is on the right side of the shift ****. For 3rd to 4th, my hand is on top of the shift ****. Never thought about that till you mentioned it.

yea i think cus it's just easier. sometimes, i just use 4 fingers, placed them on the back of the **** and move my hand down so it goes into 4th. my hand isn't even on the ****, just the fingers sliding it back. honestly, already going 90+ mph redlining, shifting all crazy into 4th isn't gonna make u go any faster. just slide it in haha. UNLESS u got like a 4.9 and 300 whp haha. then i can see jammin 4th, but how many of us have 300 whp
