Default New aftermarket rims for my 98 Accord LX sedan

I decided to buy new rims because my brother had bought 17" Rims for his 95 Accord (which I gave him). I thought it would ride horrible....rode fine...actually great....

So I bought 16" Rims for my 98 accord feeling it was "safer:" with 215/55/16 Goodyear tripletread tires....the car road HORRIBLE...you could feel the suspension "bucking". This hadn't happen in my brother car with 1" larger rims...given an older series of acccord....

I had to end up going back to 15" rims with 205/60/15 tires....

AND NO ONE could explain offset to me correctly at discount tire or at belle tire...can anyone help?

One guy said it was the tires....one said it was the rims...one said it was the wrong offset ...even thought hey all seem to be 40mm if they are aftermarket.

Our 6th gen accord needs a +42 offset, thats the OEM rim or blackies offset. not all aftermarket rims have 40, its just you might have to order speical or go look for the right offset and just pick out ones that look good on your car.

The honda dealer said offset is actually 50mm on the steel and alloy stock rims.
The problem also is the fact the rims width JUMPS to 7 inches from 6 inches....

so would 2mm...really make a difference? when we have added an inch to the width of the rim?
