New Koni Yellow with Neuspeed Springs not riding right. Any Opinions?
i installed Koni Yellows with Neuspeed Race springs on my prelude. The fronts Ride very very nice and smooth. The rears makes clunky sounds. I know they are not dead struts because they were brand new, but it sounds like it is blown, especially the passenger rear. The driver side rear isnt as bad, but i know the sounds are suppost to be there. Its a clunk sound when i hit a dip like its not absorbing. On top of that the back is lower then the front. I did make sure F goes front and R goes Rear. I am so fusterated i dont know what to do.
did you measure the amount of drop front and rear or are you just looking at the size of the gap?
also i check to make sure all bolts are tight, and i usually have ot cut my bumpstops in half to get it to not bottom out.

arnt bumpstops there to prevent u to bottom out?? less bumpstop=higher chance of bottoming out since it will allow it to go lower...

The Bump stops are cut a little more then half, do you guys think that is the reason why? They are suppost to be cutin half correct? I think i cut them a little more then half. The thing is i did the same with the fronts and it rides like a dream on the front. I did not measure the height, but i know that the rear sits with barely 1 finger gap and the front has a 2 finger gap. What do you guys think i should do? Is it ok to drive around? where can i get bump stops at? Thank you for the help so much guys I needed to figure something out because i was loosing hope. I did not know what to do and I dont want to get coilover sleeves. I like how springs ride better.
So does anyone else have any ideas?

when I did NOT cut my bumpstopsit would bottom HARD on them. which immedaitley led to some odd noises and dangerous handling. once i cut half of them off things worked a lot better with no noise and no dangerous bottoming out in normal driving. this has been the case for me with kyb agx with suspension techniques springs, tokicos with coilover sleeves, and koni yellow with neuspeeds (all on my own cars), as well as on multiple customers cars. the bumpstops are at a height that is FINE for stock suspension...but last i knew a 2 inch drop was NTO stock.
as far as finger gap you cant go by that since i would be willing to put a good bet ont eh fended arches being lower in back....after all teh rear fenders dont need to clear the wheels for turning. that is the case on accords and civics i know for a fact, though i havent looked as close on my lude.

Bumpstops should be cut in half for konis.
i'm assuming these are the neuspeed "race" springs.
which spring perch setting are you using on the konis? Also are these the neuspeed konis or the regular konis (only difference is amount of circlip/spring perch settings)?
did you modify and use your steel dustboots when you installed the suspension? that's where my rear clunk is coming from...the dustboots are misaligned and hitting the top of the shock and making ugly noises. look at the top of the shock body to see.
it could also be the dreaded 5th gen "shock knock"...

I put on some Eibach Pro's with KYB agx's on our 98 Lude and was getting a clunking from the right passenger side on certain raised driveways. (Slow Speeds)
When I put the new wheels on a week after the drop I checked out the back spring and noticed that the end of the spring was about a 1 ½" away from the spring perch (Spring stop?) Sorry don't know the proper term. It's where the end of the spring would rest against.
Anyway while I had it raised up I grabbed the spring with both hands and gave it a turn to the "Stop" and when the spring moved it created the sound I was hearing. But I was still a ½" away from the "Stop" so after a little fighting with the spring I got the end of the spring over to the "Stop" and the "Clunking" was gone.
I don't know if this is any help, (Beings I'm using a different set up) but it may be something to look into.
Good Luck.

i have the regular koni's. The front is on the top setting and the rear is on the middle setting. Yes they are Neuspeed Race springs. I am also not using a dust boot. I called Neuspeed directly and they told me not to cutt the bumpstop. So i went and bought some fresh bump stops for the rear and it is still the same. Just rode a LITTLE better. What is weird is i have no problems with the front. It rides like a dream, but the rear keeps haveing a clunky noise
that is odd that they said not to cut them, specially since when i left them stock the car WOULD bottom out on the bumpstops, which were torn up and damaged from them being too alrge for the amount of drop on the car.

not that neuspeed is a bunch of idiots, but i'd go with koni's instructions on this one, since the bumpstops are in place to protect the shock. if, with whatever the advertised drop is on the neuspeeds, koni's recommendation is what i would go with.
