koni dampening adjustment... how to find lowest setting o_O
so I got my koni's, haven't put them on yet... But um... How do I find the lowest setting? The thing just keeps turning and turning... it says 720 degrees from lowest to highest setting so... Help?? best I can figure is that twist it a couple times clockwise then it should be at it's lowest... but really I dunno. the directions kinda suck imho...
You don't say what the car is or if they are externally adjustable or internally adjustable. Both come to a complete stop at the minimum and maximum settings.
If they are externally adjustable, the white **** has an arrow that points to firm so put the **** on the adjuster and hold the piston rod in your hand so that it can't turn also. Turn the adjuster clockwise until it stops- you are at minimum setting. Remember that when the shocks are on the car, the rod is imobilized so turn thing the adjuster **** will not turn the whole piston rod. I expect you are letting the entire assembly spin. http://www.koni-na.com/****.cfm
If they are internally adjustable (no **** or adjuster tab on the tip of the rod), then they must be off the car and compressed for adjustment. Holding the body with one hand, push the rodall the way down with the other until it stops. Now slowly turn the rod and within half a turn you will feel the internal adjuster engage as it frops into a little detent. From that point, counter clockwise is softer and clockwise is firmer. http://www.koni-na.com/compb.cfm
Both are pretty easy. Max setting is approxiamtely twice as firm as min setting in rebound damping force.

you might be doing what I did when I first got my Koni's. You have to hold the piston and turn the adjuster. If you are holding the shock from the shock body and turning the adjuster, the entire piston will turn and it turns forever. Hold the piston and turn the adjuster, only the adjuster pin is supposed to turn. Did that help?
