h22a swap .. several questions (pics)
First off i appologize for the size of the first pic.. just wanted it to be large enough to see what i am questioning.
Second, i did do a little bit of searching, but due to my time schedule, and lack of patience, I decided to just post my questions and hope someone will answer me nicely.
A little bit of background info. I'm swapping an obd1 h22a into a obd2 chassis. Old motor was blown and disassembled in the car by someone else, so i really didnt have that much to go on as to placement of things in stock locations.
Questions part 1:
A: IAB (i believe) vacuum source. There was no vacuum line on the old intake manifold so im not sure where to source this vacuum.
B: correllates in some way with 'C' im pretty sure.. the question being, does it matter which vacuum line goes to which hard line?
C: see 'B'
Question 2: The following ground, does it have a specific location? It already appears to be grounded to the chasis... so does it go to the block somewhere?

Question 3: OBD1 motor sourced from HMO has the coil onboard the disty. Where does this external coil mount?

Thanks in advance for any help forthcoming.

Q1A: The IAB is activated by a vacuum canister that mounts on the bottom side of the intake manifold, which in turn is charged through a one way valve and a line to the manifold.
Q1B: No, but one line is slightly bigger I think, so one hose may also be bigger.
Q2: It goes to the engine side of the motor mount. That mount is different than most OBD1 mounts I've seen, so there may not be a place for it. Just pick one of the 10mm bolts and use that maybe.
Q3: It mounts to the thermostat housing and the top of the outer most intake cam cap (where it looks like someone added a lift hook). It looks like part of the bracket is missing though. It's not really important how you mount it, but it normally looks like this:

The mount is different cause its the 5th gen driver mount.

If you have a distributor with an internal coil then you don't need the external coil at all. Just take it out I did the same thing on my h22 motor.

The plugs are different as im still using the obd2 wiring harness. I basically have to use the external coil.
Thanks for all the other information and the diagram sabbatoge

Then you need to get an obd-2 distributor.

I wouldn't use an OBD1 dizzy anyhow. I used my 5th gen dizzy, IM, alternator, and oil pump. Makes things ALOT easier. There is no advantage to using those items from the JDM motor. I used the JDM motor + injectors... that's about it.

I have one. The external coil disty. He was asking why i didnt just use the disty with the internal coil, and i was explaining why.

Yeah i basically just used the longblock. I swapped injectors though, because of the plug difference. Simpler that way. I'm not getting payed very much to do this swap so im not overly concerned about things being PERFECT. Just as close to stock as possible.
