Default EF9 Front Conversion Inquiry Vegas

I have a 1988 Civic Hatch Std that I would love to have the JDM EF9 front end conversion added to. Not many people in the LV area have JDMed their cars, apparently it is a So-Cal and elsewhere thing. I understand that these conversions are easily obtained from importers from Cali to NY State, but I am having trouble finding a location in Las Vegas that is willing to do the work and apply a reasonable paint job. Does anybody have the name of a reputable location in Las Vegas that would do quality work for a reasonable price?

That's the one! A buddy of mine had a JDM DC front end put on his Teg there before he moved to So-Cal, along with some performance goodies (cold air, custom painted valve cover, brake calipers, etc...)

I appreciate the response, guys! This is my first Honda, and I have done quite a bit of research about it before I decided I would commit to the JDM look and ride. The one thing I don't get is what is the difference between JDM and "rice"?

there isn't a difference.

Rice is about spending money to make the car stand out. it's about spending money on appearance items vs. performance items.

the "JDM" look is the same thing. spending money on APPEARANCE over PERFORMANCE.

I got a really good paint shop for you. Not well known, but does outstanding work. He does all of 702 Motorings cars.(hummer, lotus, bentley) As for a shop to buy it from I would like to know where to find it also.

I didn't think there was much of a difference between the two, although alot of people have advise me that Rice is similar to traditional American based Hot-Rodding muscle cars with fancy paint jobs, scoops, wings, wheels and performance.

I don't particularly care to add neon to my car, nor do I want to maintain the faded crusty red paint and black plastic unpainted bumpers with cracked valance and faded emblems. Owning this car has been very educational for me, being that it is a I4 FWD foreign car and all. I do not want to advertise to theives that my car has anything special that they might want to steal, just to clean it up a bit and add a little get-up-and-go under the stock sheetmetal.

I was advised that the EF9 conversion would maintain a stock-like look while the B16 would give me more bang for my buck, was I advised wrong?

Well... 702 Motoring does not have a special place in my heart (H2s, bentleys, and all those other overpriced non-mechanically sound vehicles? give me a break), if you mean they will charge me $5000 for the same shade red that Earl Scheib can give me for $700 for their top of the line job, I think I'll pass. If they do good work for less than $2k (under the hood, door jambs, interior areas, etc...)I will definitely look them up.

But the point is... this kid wants to know what shop does what in the Las Vegas area, not TX. Do you have a shop in LV in mind that will do a motor swap, body work, and performance mods for a reasonable price? If so, hook me up, my beater could use a little TLC on that end as well!

well to me jdm look is the clean stock look....front end, performance light wheels not 17"-22" bling bling wheels, minimal body add-ons. things like that...

rice is when u mix pretty boy bling bling rims, put alot of sticker on ur car that dont belong, (GTS-R, type r, ford motorsports, etc.....i have seen this.) put huge wings when the car is stock hight, and things like that....

i'm doing a jdm front end on and ef....will get a stock Tahitian green paint. will have the stock d16a6 for now...wile i build my B16...

if u need anything from LA.... let me know i go there alot.....actually i'm going there on tue...will be there for a week...so if u need any info...like going to check a shop or something....let me know....
i do buy from password jdm and i know where the shop is....also i have been inside in their warehouse.....if u want me to check something out let me know...

Trust me I HATE 702 with a passion. I was just using them as reference as to what kind of work these guys can do. My car cost 1600 for ice pearl and had all dents and dings removed(i had alot). no door jams though, but my car is white. I have seen other hondas he's done and they have come out very clean. If your in town you can check my car out to see his quality.

Thanks, I just want to have my car look real clean. I want the average motorist to see my car and not give it a second glance, but I also want people that appreciate the "EF" based models to know what had been done.

I work across the parking lot from a body shop, they do mostly insurance work (no JDM, damnit) and their quote to have the front end fixed with OEM parts is over $2500, not counting paint (ripoff).

Would you be able to give me the name of this person that does the body/paint work?

If you have it, I would like to purchase the console part that links the lower dash to the extended lower part that houses the E-brake and shifter. Do you have anything that resembles that? I have searched NV pick-a-part in both LV and Henderson, and I can't find it.

Glad to know there are some ef ht members in town. If any of you know a good exhaust shop in town let me know.

Thank you, but both items featured were sold. They were not exactly what I had in mind anyways. I am looking for the lower portion of the dash-center console that connects the radio/climate control functions to the center console on the floor with the included shift boot in a kind of swooping shape (very difficult to describe, I apologize)

Oh well... Once this "trial user" thing is over I will post a WTB threat in the marketplace area.

Both pic-a-part in LV and Hooterville suck @$$. The only productive item I scrounged out of the Henderson location was a driver's side window regulator. The damn thing fit, but won't roll down all the way cuz it came from a rex and not a hatch.
