Default First time flushing, did i do it right?

i took the little bleeder nipple off the radiator, lower/top radiator hose and let it drain out for a while.

-put the nipple and hoses back, filled it up with distilled water and antifreze.

-left the radiator cap open, started the car and let it reach normal operating temps, while topping it off with water when needed.

-drove around the block until the fan came on let it idle for a second, turned it off and let the car cool down and checked the coolant level and refill what little was needed. did this again and refilled again.

question- is this correct? the tempreture never went over normal levels at all.

So you did a 50/50 of water and coolant, then you just added straight water? You need to add a 50/50 mix of both no matter what part of the process you're in. You don't add just water, and you don't add just coolant. You should be ok, but with adding more water:antifreeze, it should have dilluted (sp?) it and the mixture may not last the 30,000 miles like it should before your next change. You'll want to do another change out before winter hits if you drive it daily just to be safe. Good luck.

Just on a side note, if you've ever heard you can run straight antifreeze with no problems...you can't. Antifreeze will sluge up and freeze just like water in the winter time, and in the summer time, it'll be too acidic and could cause damage to your cooling system compenents.

antifreeze..does what it's supposed to. prevent the water in ur radiator and **** to freeze and it prevents rust. i've read that having more water will allow higher boiling temps...

mix 50/50 and call it a day, you can also run straight water in summer or warm weather.

If you go to a drag racing strip they'll tell you to just use water because the cleaning sucks for them. Water is good enough but I recommend using some "water wetter" additives when running just water.

But like I said, 50/50 water, coolant and call it a day or year.
