Default Relays to control brake lights / tail lights

Okay, here is what I would like to do.

I want to be able to turn my tail lights off/on while my headlights stay on. Before I knew much I just used a simple (underrated) switch to control my tail lights. Recently I made something up using relays and LED indicators to tell me what state my lights were in.

Also - I need something so it doesnt blow the fuse on my alarm if I accidentally leave the tails off and my alarm arms the car and tries to blink the lights. Here is what I came up with.

With the switch so the RED LED lights up, my tail lights function as usual. The relay is not energized and so current flows from pin 30 (signal) to pin 87a (normally closed).

With the switch so the GREEN LED lights up, the signal to the tails is grounded out and so my tail lights are not illumniated. the relay is energized and current flows from the common pin 30 to the grounded out pin 87.

If it looks like there is a ground where one shouldn't be, perhaps I am being overly cautious and dont want my alarm fuse blowing when it tries to blink my lights.

Does this make sense?

Thanks!

One thing for sure you can NOT have 12V+ ign. going to ground, like the diagram shows, same goes for the relay at the top it looks like you have "signal" going to ground when the relay is on, if "signal" is the 12V+ from light switch and "output" goes to the lights, then when the relay is at rest and you turn on the lights, they would work, but as soon as you turn on the ign. and switch the switch "up" that the ign. is going into and out to ground, [dead short] you will short out the park lights, although I don't know why in hell you would not want tail lights, here is a simple way to do it, connect the tail light 12V+ output wire from the light switch, or where ever you are braking into the line at, to pin 30 of relay also jump it to pin 85, connect the line that goes to the tail lights to pin 87a of the relay, also connect the green LEDs pos. (+) lead to pin 87a, and ground the LEDs neg. (-) lead. connect the red LEDs pos. (+) lead to pin 87 and ground the neg. (-) lead, from pin 86 of relay run a line through an off/on switch to ground, when switch is off and the lights on the taillights will work and the green LED will be on, if you turn the switch on, the tail lights will turn off and the green LED will go out and the red LED will come on, if you turn off the lights, the relay will turn off and so will the LEDS, no matter if the switch is off or on. 94

Yes if you want the green LED to light up when the tail lights are not working, and the red one when the tail lights are working. 94
