topped out the ZC CRX
I posted this on the kills board but people had a hard time beleiving it. I raced a Mercedes Benz 240 yesterday on the highway. It wasn't really a race as my cars faster than his but I wanted to see how fast he would go. I was a little behind him so I might have been drafting him a bit. I rev limited my car in 5th gear. And after I topped out the M-B walked away from me which I thought was pretty amazing. We were doing about 90 when he nailed it I left mine in 5th gear and pushed it down about 3/4 and had no problem keeping up until the speedo was at 125 or just passed then I had to floor it. I looked down next at the tach was at 7K previously my best top speed but the car kept going and I was still with him he wasn't gaining and I wasn't getting closer. Then a few seconds later I hit the rev-limiter and he kept going. According to the CRX-math page http://crx.honda-perf.org/math/index.html
my car was doing 146MPH with 195/55/14 Dunlop SP8000.
I have a 1990 HF CRX with DOHC ZC, ZC tranny I/H/E highflow cat, pulley and timing advanced. Also lowered 1".
And yes it was a little unstable above 140 as the wipers were violantly shaking.

I'm extremely skeptical that you redlined 5th gear....
ya. me too, skeptical. Where in MD are you going to get enough clear and straight road to do 140?
I've done 140 in my supercharged civic si, but that was on an empty toll road in KY (between London and Bowling green) and I've got a picture to prove it.
That is with 205/45-16's and a stock Si tranny - no I was not cruising at 140, as the green light indicates - I was cruising, then stood on the throttle. It took like a full minute to get up to top speed.
Believe it or not, I don't care.

scrub maybe 6mph off that for tire spin and other inacurate ****, and I could see 140 on a straight road in the draft of a benz. Remember, drafting makes a huge difference, if you don't believe me, stick your head out the window at 65mph, than get right behind a transport and stick your head out the window, or just listen to the sound of the air going past your sunroof.

Ya, 110mph is PLENTY for me, I like around 90mph, I feel comfortable at that speed, but rarley drive it. Normally 75mph on the major highways. The only way I could see a rex going that fast is because of the draft, mathmatically speaking, he does have the gearing for it according to that math thing posted earlier, and tucked in a draft he got dragged along, but it would have been unstable as a motherbeeper. pul outta the draft and call it the end there eh!!!
