How strong are the stock axles?
Ok..i'm in the near completion of my build up. Should be maxing out the power of t3/t4 turbo that I got from fmax kit. Anyway..my question is that how strong are the stock axles? i'm kinda low on cash and don't feel like spending $1700 for the unbreakable axle just yet....how long you think those stock axles will last me? the car is 00 and only has 20000 miles on those axles..

lets assume they are good for 400 whp open diff and 200whp spool, 225whp lsd on a tall slick. its very hard to give an accurate reading, especially for a b series motor in a civic with missaligned axles.
I am going to stick with my weak axels once my car gets truly fast. I would rather break an axle then break a transmission.
Unless, I suddenly become rich or something.

Strong enough to get me through the quarter-mile in 11.90 seconds at 119.33 mph. That was peg-legged also. I think once you put in an LSD, the axles are more prone to breaking.

tips to make them last..dont lower or raise car too much from stock, axles are at perfect angle stock, also,if you add an LSD diff, you wont get diff slamming the power, back and forth,to left and right tire when u come spinning out of the burnout box, which will help kill your axles.
well, i'm in the process of getting quiffe that's for sure. and i don't have the mis-alignment problem cuz the engine is originally off my car (integra gsr)
thanks for all the advice. Think i'll run those axles for like a month or two before i invest money on those unbreakable axles

I think once you put in an LSD,the axles will be less prone to breaking, the HP is split between to two axles, where as without LSD,one axle sees all the HP.
Actually, this isn't true. With an LSD, the axles are more prone to breaking. I don't know the exact explanation, but there's a thread about this. Try searching for it. I'm gonna now cuz I just got my LSD.

Na,you could go ahead and search it,cause your wrong and you got no explanation backing your point.

STAGE 1 AXLE $149.99.This axle has the 1117
billet housings and a induction heat treated solid bar. good for 200hp and most street cars.
HP rating is for a limited slip car. If you have an open differential please double your Hp for proper axle rating. Also keep in mind a big rim with a small side wall will raise the shock factor on the axle. When ordering axles take into consideration what you are doing with the car

What they are saying...is the Axle is rated for 250whp, but if your Open Diff...
You need to find an Axle thats rated for 500whp. "Double your Horsepower for Accurate Rating". It's written pretty plainly. Someone please explain how Open Diff breaks less Axles than LSD.

uhhhhhhhh ?
Yes, D-man, you're right. At first I said you were wrong cuz I was reading thru the posts one day and came across your argument with someone about this same matter. I just remembered it wrong when I posted this.
My bad. "Double your rating if you have an OPEN DIFF", so if it's a limited diff, then you don't double the rating. Got it, thanks.
Sorry for the confusion I caused.

what's the matter, you confused or something....Double your rating if you have an OPEN DIFF,so if the HD Axles can handle 200hp with LSD,you need axles that can handle 400hp if you have open diff too be just as durable, duh!
