I raced for five years, logging an average of 15,000 miles per year on the books. I had commercial trailer tags on my tag-trailer and never got pulled over. I think what happened in the article was a fluke. I have never seen or heard of a racer being pulled over for just an inspection, etc. The only time I have seen or heard of racers, towing trailers, being pulled over, is when they were speeding (myself included
) I believe the article is totally correct, but I do not think that commercial enforcement officers really care about racer's rigs. They are focused on enforcing the laws and inspecting for drugs on standard commercial trucking. If this does happen to someone, it sounds like they just make you park your rig and come back after a 10 hour wait.

Iowa,It doesnt surprise me.Iowa is one of the strictest states when it comes to commercial vehicles. You look at them funny and they will pull you over. I tow new RVtrailers and have put about 50k on my truck since march. Iowa is the worst state to go through. I go through at night when the dot bears are asleep. If you hav commercial tags on you tow rig and trailer, they can pull you over anytime they want just for ***** and giggles. 14 hour thing is combined on duty driving and On duty not driving,You have 11 hours of on duty driving you can do.Then 10 hours off duty before you can resume Driving.

you can do that, but what if you're not in your home state. do you know the name of the local track? where it's located? it's just best to follow the rules, if you get pulled over it should be a quick stop(unless you get a ball busting dot cop)!

It isn't that hard to get to 10,000 total though.
I thought it didn't matter until you weighed over 25,999(whatever cdl limit is). But I guess learned something new.

I will add that this is a new law just passed so saying what you have done years ago is just that years ago.
myself being a pro race team, we have never ran into this problem yet....but Jotech got pulled over on the way to Atco, Mario has been pulled over in Steph's rig, Gary Gardella's team has been pulled over, these are just the ones that I am aware of.

Once again sorry bro, but if you have an open trailer you are even worse off because if you have a single sticker on your car, then they look at that as having a sponsor, therefore you are racing for a profit, therefore you are a business!!
And I got news for everyone, there is now way to get away with lying, cuz they will ask for your SS# and check you out, and as we all know that little number will tell them everything you have ever won!!
