Default Short shifter adapters?? Cheap strut bars?

I have come across "Short shifter adapters" on a couple of websites, and Ebay. They range from $10-$40...They supposedly reduce the throw length by 20-30%.

Has anyone tried one of these things? Did it make a significant difference?

I have one on my 4th gen accord (neuspeed). Dosn't make a huge diffrence like I thought it would but I did notice the throw was a bit shorter. It dosnt change the left to right motion but only the forward to back motion.

Personally I dont think its the best performance part out there but it helps!

I bought a fidanza short shifter adapter on ebay for like $30 shipped. I didnt even know they made adapters for my cars. Anyways installing it was a snap. Took apart the center counsole in about 10 mins and put it on and put the console back on again. I did notice a difference. For $30 I guess it was worth it....

I have a 95 Accord EX, by the way.

Do you guys know a source for a "real" one? How much might that cost. I may give the $12 a try anyway... Anyone else tried them?

What about those $25 engine mount inserts...Can that cure the symptoms of a cracked engine mount without having to take everything apart? I am avoiding a new post...

While I am at it...

I can also find a front strut bar, rear bar, and a rear tie bar, for $30 on Ebay. Anyone tried the extremely cheap strut bars? Do they fit well? I just read the bit about them in the Accord guide. It seems like for the money, it's the thing to do. I am surprised at how cheap aftermarket parts are for these cars.

With an after market flywheel .. youll find that the RPMS can drop very quickly while your between gears .. and the an after market clutch will grab much quicker .. so next step is to cut the time between shifts .. thats where the short shifter comes in ..

I appreaciate all the replies. I will definitely check out those "real" short shifters.

I am not looking to race my Accord...I am not that serious...I am just trying to have a little fun with my driving around town. In stock form, Accords are about as boring as it get's...

Anybody here try the $12 stut bars? I will order one in the next day or so...

I tried one for my 626 and it took a bunch of dremel work to make it fit, but it no doubt made a difference.

yes, i did it for a while...i just ended up replacing with a new mount but i did just the energy suspension bushing in the front mount which was completly cracked all the way around the rubber and it seemed to work good enough...

Ive heard good results on the PSPEC short shifter. It might be expensive but at least its a lot better quality than the ones on Ebay.

like he said... check out the 4bidden, it's the complete shifter, and it's amazing, feels just as smooth as stock and is ALOT shorter... pretty cheap too

How is the installation for the shifter?

I may as well ask about the engine mount inserts too...Is it difficult?

Just a little tidbit of information, most ebay stuff is ****. You get what you pay for. I bought a short shifter when I had an integra on Ebay, and it broke in two months. Bought a cold air intake also, and it broke in two weeks. If you want something that is going to last, you're going to have to pay a little more for it. It never hurts to go named brand. For your short shifter, I would recommend DC Sports or Neuspeed. They're brands you can trust.
