Go with the R. The Spec V is not in the same league.

The R is a considerably better performer in all categories, but isn't a new vehicle and lacks 4 doors. I'm not sure what your decision criteria are, but if it's just on performance, an Spec V is not in the same league as the R.

Before the Spec V was released there were rumours that it would be equivalent in performance to a Type-R. Now that it has been released, it seems to be not even on a par with the last generation Civic Si.

In other words, it is not even close to the Type-R in terms of performance. No contest.

Didn't they get close to 15hp with just intake and exhaust? I know that sounds a lot, but those "larger" displacement I-4 should react well to mods. Like you said, any ITR you get will be used... and I personally don't like buying used cars that are in the same price range as descent new cars. However, I know that you'll love the ITR once you drive it. If you care about corner carving, then by all means get an ITR. If you want a new car w/ 4 door and possibility for "cheap" HP mods, then get the Spec V.

p.s. Insurance on an ITR is a bitch...

I drove the spec V, and it was nice, but more in the same league as the Civic SI
