Hey guys Im wondering...

A few months back one of my sparkplug literally got its tip blowed off and resulted into a big hole in one of my valve (pictures below). I replaced the valve, no problems since then (I also realigned the others valves using the little spacers).

Im trying to find out what happened.. since it was an explosion.. I would naturally figure out the distributor sent a way too big spark to the plug, or the plug was deffective, or my valve was....

But my plugs were 6 months old.. my valves are stock and the 15 others were all in good shape.

Thats the intro, now my question is, could a bad distributor coil cause that? I think my coil is toast because when I take my car for a HARSH ride, turn it off, I cant start it again for 5-10 mins... Everything cracks OK, I have spark.. but it just wont start off the bat.

Assuming my coil is being a bitch, could it have caused a bad spark being sent by the dist to the plug? If not, any other idea?

you might get a better response to your post in the all motor forum or if you are boosting, the FI forum.

 

My guess would be your valve actually went first, then took out the plug. If your valve lash was way out of spec you might have burnt the valve. This happened on a friend's car and the valve looked just like yours.
