mini-me wont start, help..searched
88 crx si, a6 bottom, y8 head, z6 intake mani, ls throttle body, converted to obd1 runnin p28 (y8 dizzy)
finished putting everything together but it wont start. my fuel rail is getting fuel, fuel pump primes, getting spark also, tripple checked the crank timing. the car tries to start over, although it seems a lot slower then it should. instead of being..

its.. reeeeeeeeer-reeer-rreeeeeeeeer
when i give it gas it seems like it wants to start, begins to but doesnt fully. i can hear the exaust doing something. behind my exaust there was all sorts of black **** from inside the muffler im assuming. someone help me please. ivechecked all necessary things, spark, fuel, and timing. what r the chances my injectors are bad? they havent been used in a few years, and the car hasnt run in a year or so.

bump, is it possible the ecu is bad or something wrong with my wiring. it gets spark and i know fuel is at least getting to the fuel rail. how do i tell if the injectors are spraying?

It sounds like your battery is weak or the grounds are not good.
Start with the grounds, then check the battery or try get jump started.
If that fails, pull a spark plug and see if you can smell gas in the cylinder or on the plug to rule out the injectors. Also, did you trace each of the spark wires back to the distributer to make sure the firing order is right?
Last but not least, any codes?

mmm i think grounds are ok, battery is fine. i hooked up an extra wire to the thermostat to see if that helped but it didnt, it wants to start, and if i give it some gas it can get going but it shakes the whole car (mounts are tight) andt hen dies quickly. it is getting fuel. no codes, doesnt even start up. i just put some new plugs in and it hasnt even run, adn when i pulled them out, number 2 and 3 had black **** on them. one was wet, didnt look like oil, but looked like..ink, the other was charcoal colored. the motor hasnt been run in a while.
Ink?? Give it a smell, does it smell more like oil or coolant or a mix? Might be time for a compression test.
Personally, since you havent driven the car in such a long time I would drain the block of all its coolant and oil and put some fresh stuff in. Not sure if that will help your situation but it wont hurt.

alrite number 3 and 4 cylinders have no compression.. =\ what could this be, i just put a vtec head on it, the car was running before i got it until the timing belt broke (then i relpaced the head)
ok ok update, so no compression in cylinders 3 and 4. drained my oil (planned on putting a new block in) and noticed lots of antifreeze in my oil. i put a new headgasket on when i did the head swap, but when pullin the old a6 head off the last gasket had lots of **** stuck to the block, i couldnt get it all off. it was like melted to the aluminum so i just left some of it still on there, but i sanded a little down, it felt smooth tot he touch. would something like this cause no compression? id think thered be maybea little bit... im stumped.
Yes you want a clean even surface. Perhaps heads even warped. IF you are getting no compression then I am guessing either valves or rings are bad. You should get some type of compression.
when i did my mini me my car started on first crank but since the head was shaved the dowel rods were to long, and the front just GUSHED anti freeze. i had to take off the head again sanded all the black **** off and shaved the dowel rods. and can you use that y8 dizzy? was it converted? to obd1?
yea y8 dizzy bolts to y8 head and all other dseries xcept z6. obd1 and 2 dizzys are the same , obd0 is the oddball. yes i converted. howm uch did u pay to have the head shaved..why did u have it shaved. does it affect compression?
You need compression, fuel, spark and correct timing for the motor to run. It sounds like you have no comression. Go have your head surfaced. Make sure the block is all cleaned off also. WHen cleaning off the old gaskets it is good to have something like a scraper that is softer than the metal of the block but stronger than the gasket. Brass works good for me. Get a good soft metal scraper and a can of gasket remover. I usually have to do it 5-6 times to get it all off. The gaket remover will soften up the top layer, scrape it then repeat till it is all gone. After that I take some wd-40 and a scotchbrite pad and shine it up. My machine shop charges $15 for a surface so I do not touch the head, just let them do it.

How on earth would bad valve seals lower your compression?
They seal the oil under the valve cover from leaking down the valve and into the intake and exhaust ports.

I used some kind of bristle thread looking thing
. Get the fine thread not the coarse. I wish I could remember what its called. I used it on my cylinder head and block took about 5-10 minutes to get it all done. Clean up takes a little while though cause it sprays all over. I'll try to find out what its called.

ok ok UPDATE, so i had no compression in cylinder 3 and 4. i drained my oil and i see lots of green **** in it (antifreeze), mind u i havent driven the car so the oil and coolant were filled up a day before. so im assuming it wasnt sealing, but i used a new gasket and torqued everything in the right order down to specs. i cant remember but i used the y8 headstuds i believe, i read somewhere that u can reuse them, even tho everyone swears u cant. but yea hrm i have no idea. would bent valves cause this to happen? oil and coolant ot mix, and no compression, i mean id think id have some compression at least.
