B18C5 2.0L 12.5:1 Build, need suggestion
In the works of building a 12.5:1 compression 2.0L using B18C5 block and rotating assy. Block to be sleeved and bored to 85mm, crank to be balanced, and possibly stock rods or aftermarket.
For example, JE pistons, they don't have a 85mm piston listed for the B18C, but have one for the B16A and B20. Would I be using the pistons for the B20?
The JE website states that if I use B18C crank and B16A head (PR3/Type R head) compression will be .2 lower. So with the B20 pistons, it will be 12.3:1.
What other pistons are recommended, CP, Coasworth, Arias, SRP, etc.
Just wanted to make sure the proper piston to order. Not sure if the wrist pin location is the same between B16A and B20 pistons.

I am using CP 12:1 on my motor, almost exact same build except I am using a GSR crank for its lighter weight.

I am running an 85mm B18C5 block also. I am running Wiseco +2cc (B20) pistons and it's about 11.5:1. I'm also running an LS crank with Carrillo rods. I am extremely happy with my seutp.

Why is that? Running 22" MH slicks on 13" Bogart Pro 4, 60ft was 1.8.
Besides just comments, give a explanation on why, would be more informational don't you think...

I used to run 98mph in the past with 14 sec runs, that was when I had less power and was using friends 25" slicks. When I switched to 22" ET's improved and mph dropped.
i wouldnt think b20 ones would fit right due to diff. rod and crank specs. id go with a diff. manufacturer...i really like cp pistons, and im currently using wiseco's right now that i picked up from import builders which are nice.
I'm also gonna run CP's, custom RM spec 85mm's 2.5cc. they will, on my setup with a 92mm crank give me ~12.2:1 CR
And it does not matter if they are listed for B16 or B20 or whatever, what you need to know besides dia. is compression height and piston cc's to calculate what the CR will be on your setup. That also depends on head cc, gasket thickness, piston to deck height and if you have flat faced valves or not. Also remember that the same piston will give higher CR if used on a longer stroke crank, pistons yielding 12.5:1 on a B16 crank will give you a lot more on a B18C due to the longer stroke.
The CR specs listed by piston companies are just to be used a guideline as the end result depends on your setup. Also would be good to know if the valvepockets are deep enough if you plan to go with high lift cams. With that said, Arias, JE, CP and Wisecco all make good products.

Here's an interesting article on pistons, there's a pic of a CP x-style a bit down.
