why is vtec louder???

I tried searching but i didnt find anything on it. my question is why is vtec louder on a civic Si than on a gs-r???? my friend just has intake and exhaust and his is way!! louder compared to mine which has intake and skunk2 intake manifold and stock exhaust. like when his vtec engages it jsut screams. ANd on mine i can just hear a slight difference and it pulls harder too but i doesnt sound that loud. When i race him it sounds like mine doesnt even engage.

i was thinking that.. but i think he hears a difference in engine sound.

exactly what I was thinking when I started reading it... The exhaust makes it way way louder, and since yours is stock exhaust, thats probably why yours isnt as loud.

First thing i though, but i could be wrong. Do the Civic SI's have a higher profile on their cams? OTher than that i don't really know.

its because of the single stage manifold
itr, lude, Si all have single stage manifolds and they are louder than the gsr, iv been in all three cars

get some more aggressive cams and cam gears and with some tuning yours should be louder!!!

yea im putting a bunch of new stuff on it in about a week. this is my setup do you think its good guys???
Mods:
AEM cold air
skunk2 intake manifold
fludyne radiator
removed A.C
removed P.S
clutchmasters stage 3 clutch
p28 skunk2 ecu
groundcontrol coilovers
ls transmission
and remvoed cat.
98 front end conversion
Mods to come:
CTR pistons
Skunk2 stage2 cams
Omni power valve train
dc jdm itr header
skunk2 megapower exhaust W/carsound hi flo cat
skunk2 adjustable cam gears
and i'm going to ditch the skunk2 ecu and get the car tuned with hondata.
what you guys think??

your getting skunked 2
for me
btw don't get the dc jdm itr header, if your going to spend all that money don't cheap out on a header like that. get a toda header instead

i know the tranny freaks everybody out lol. but the car was turboed before hence the "LS tranny" but im going to swap it out for a gs-r tranny when i get money. the b16 is too high in the rpm range when cruising in my opinion

it has gearing similar to that of a USDM Type R tranny...so if youd buy a Type R tranny...see no reason not to buy a b16

yea .. your vtec should be jus as loud as his with your upgraded IM .. i think its jus that he got his exhaust system because when i opened up the axle back on my stock gsr .. vtec engages very loud
