Default Anyone know how an amplified antenna works?

After installing an amp in my 97 CL my FM radio hardly gets any signal to some radio stations. I checked my antenna cable and ant power wire and they are all connected. I can recieve one station really well (better than before) and ALL other signals barely or not at all. What is going on? HELP! TIA

basically works exactly like you have described it amplifies the incomming signal by some amount usually specified in dB. If it is adjustable you may need to get an SWR meter and tune your antenna or buy an antenna with the correct impedence. Basically if you have an impedence mismatch between the antenna and the radio you signal gets reflected back into the source. Killing your reception.

Look here for tuning http://www.flycom.co.uk/antenna_swr.htm so many people just buy antennas and slap them on there is so much more to an antenna then what people realize.
