Default What do I need to put on new cat-back?

I'm trying to assure my brother that he doesn't need to shell out 230 (he was actually quoted this price by a shop) to get an exhaust installed on his 94 ls. What supplies would he need in order to get off his rusted out stock exhaust and install the new one? Would we need to use a torch and some liquid wrench or similar product to loosen those bolts on the cat if they refuse to move? If so what type of torch? Thanks for the help.

230 seems high to me ...depending on how bad the rust is you may or may not need a torch ....most of the time you will need one ..unless the car is new ...you need some bolts nuts gaskets (all of which should have come with the new cat back exaust) maybe some hangers ...

230 just to install it, plus the price of exhaust? or does 230 include custom s.s piping?

230 just to install it according to my brother. He got a Greddy evo2. I paid 75 at Meineke a couple years back to put a TRM on my EM1, so there is no reason it could be that high for a teg.

Thanks for the input... keep it coming if anyone else has a suggestion.

$230 just for labor.....what the hell...going rate at my shop to put a cat back on most cars is $40-$50, tell them to put the crack pipe down and get a cheaper habit

i just did my header and exhaust the other day. Simple and straight forward, i just used liquid wrench. If you're installing the catback all you need are the gaskets and maybe some new hangers if the old one is busted.
$230 is just wayyy too much. If you know what you're doing, it takes no more then 30 min with it being that you have 2 person working on it.
Basically unbolting your old cat and bolting up the new one, save that $230 for better use.
