I'm trying to take my door handles out of my 97 hatch. I've got the lock rods disconnected and the handle bolts out, but the metal plate where the key goes in(on the inside) is holding the handle in place so i cant get the focker out! How do you get the handle out? Just break tha hell out of it or is there a more efficient way to do it? I've always got the hammer...

 

There is a cotter pin that holds it together. If you can get a flashlight in there and a buddy to help you look, you should find it.

It is a pain. It took my dad and I about 20-30 min to get it out for mine.

wow thanks! you can only see a piece of it and jsut have to guess and pull. at least the handle is off now. i honestly would have never found that little bitch
