Please Help Guys: Tired Motor Needs A Fresh Start!
I'd like to do a rebuild on my poorman's R motor. Basically I need some opinions on what exactly I need to just give the motor a fresh start. Things like gaskets, bearings, seals, etc.
My short list of things I plan on buying/having done:
ARP rod bolts
ARP head studs
ACL bearings
New head gasket (either OEM or cometic, what do you guys suggest?)
Valve Job
What else is needed to give the motor a fresh start? While everything is apart I plan on honing the cylinders, and possibly giving them an overbore depending on how the cylinders look, and throwing in some p30 pistons. Also what rods are needed to run the p30's in a gsr block? Lastly for any parts I have listed and/or any that you suggest could you please give me an idea where to get these said parts for the best prices. Thanks a lot guys!

I was just quoted $200 for a set of .20 overbore p30's with rings. Does that sound like a good deal to you guys?

Thanks for the response. I plan on having that done as well.

your gsr rods would be fine. don't forget cap/rotor, plugs/plug wires, fuel filter, you know the basic things. inlinefour.com has a good top end gasket kit for sale. hope this helps bro.....

Ok guys I'm about to order some ARP headstuds for the rebuild. My motor is a gsr block/b16 head. I asked the seller if I should purchase headstuds for a gsr or a b16 and he recommended b16. Can anyone confirm this? I just want to be sure I order the right ones. Thanks
yea 200 is a good deal on p30s with rings. Streetimports.com has a good full engine gasket kit for fairly cheap, even comes with a head gasket i think.U need a new water pump, timing belt and tensioner.Deffinately get a good valve job.

I have heard once before that you buy head studs based on the block not the head but I'm not sure, I would love for someone w/greater knowledge to enlighten us...
I'll be perfectly content w/being wrong!
