Default Header ? for 02 Civic

Howdy everyone! I'm the proud owner of an 02 civic ex coupe and would like to know what kind of headers are out there for some hp gains. I've heard DC sucks and I live in emission state so Kamikaze is out so what to do besides getting another car? AEM V2 installed with apexi n1 on the way. Thanks for the input.

I have the V2. and it sounds absolutely awesome!!!! the biggest thing you have to be careful of is ... make sure u use a rubber washer where u mount the V2 down, cuz it has a big problem cracking at the weld when people just use the metal washers, cuz it cant move so when the engine moves the intake stays still and puts to much stress on it..... As long as u install it properly, its great.... and it sounds very good!

as for the header, not sure... my friend has the megan header and he said he noticed a lil , but he hasnt dyno'd it yet, but i mean with I/h/e on the d17 engine, theres not much HP gain at all any ways. but good luck..

k Cool, I'll use rubber washers instead of the metal ones, With I/H/E, Will I atleast get 20-30 HP or is that even pushing it? I'm thinking about getting I/H/E and then ECU next month. Only ordered the V2 for now though as i wanted to do some more research on the d17 before I put more money into it.

I had a 92 civic before. Wondering If I should just trade this 02 civic in and get something else, Maybe the 06 SI, but i'm not sure yet.

At best your going to gain 10hp, maybe 15-20hp TOTAL after tunning

That doesn't seem right, on the V2 the dyno test for my car gives almost 6 hp gain and 5 lb torque, with headers and exhaust also + ecu upgrade. One would think i would get more then 10 hp without even tuning the ecu. Wouldn't you think?

You would THINK yes. Do a search on http://www.7thgencivic.com for "dyno" ther are plenty of post of only getting 110-120hp to the wheel AFTER I/H/E if not even less

yeah i did a little looking around while i was on my lunch and noticed that it's hard to get power in later models, that sucks. I got it 4 months ago and i'm already thinking about getting the new 06 SI, just waiting on more info to be released on it.

sucks cause my car is supposed to be 127 stock, dyno it and it's 110.

I got my girlfriends car at work now, I play with her little 04 jetta 1.8T for now. Little 4 banger turbo tears pretty decent. but she's trading it after her internship. She wants us to get his and her's G35's. LOL, or she's gonna get a land rover LR3.

Thanx for the help. Anyone else have any ideas or suggestions? By the way the V2 is awesome. The sound is very deep and I love it. 06 civic is in my plan but I dont' pay off my 02 till 07 so I will get the second year SI. First years usually have something wrong. I dunno i wanna do a 50 shot but I need a good header and exhaust first. I am stuck with this car so I might as well make the best of it.

well, I dont really know who makes what headers better with your specifications and all,..but our Civics, Id go with a 4-2-1 header as apposed to a 4-1 header. it gets better mid-high power

Your options are:
DC sports (street legal)
HP Header
HP Race Header with o2 simulator
Megan Header
Megan Header + Megan downpipe (Testpipe)

since you want to pass emissions then you are limited to what you can buy...

max WHP you will get I/H/E with no cat...10whp on a MT SOHC VTEC civic

If you want HP take of the power steering belt...makes more HP than any of the bolt ons.

When AEM claims HP...it isn't WHP.

If you want real HP you need to either turbo, motorswap or buy another car.

Okay Okay we all know the d17 sucks but hey I've got another year to pay and then on to other things, but I need an opinion! AEM V2, Megan Race Header, and APEXi N1 cb? not much horsepower I know but a little difference? Can anyone tell me about the Megan Header and the HP gain if any? What about removing of the cat or keeping it? I live in a emission state, but I dun care about that crap. need header soon so I can get exhaust then 50 shot! Hope to hear from you guys. As always thanx for any help that u guys can give!

I want a Megan Race header so if anyone out there knows about it and my model year then please help. I wanna do a AEM V2, Megan race header, apexi n1 cb, AEM tru pulleys, and a 50 shot of nos! please post comments about it, unless your going to tell me how stupid I am, b/c I already know that lol. thanx for all the help.

either get the HP full race header or dc full race header. both of these elimintae the cat and will give better gains than the other "shorty" headers especially when spraying. When smog time comes then put your stock cat and header on test and remove. its the price you pay for HP.

okay so everyone is in agreement that HP full header is the best? so no megan or kamikaze? and where might I find this header at a cheap price? where can I get stats on it? is it going to be overly loud? thanx for the input
