Ok so I let my buddy drive my car to the mall and I drove his and he definatley shifted from 4th to 2nd on the highway. I thought he might have bent a vavle so I took it to my buddy @ Acura and he scanned it and the car ran a code for a few days it was " Misfiring " in the cylinders or some ****, well anywho the light turned off and its not throwing a code anymore. We ran a leak down test, and a comp test and they both turned out normal. I have a pretty good vavle lash now and the car is hesistant when you give it car until vtec, but you can feel it in the pedal Im buying a new distributor and wires plugs ignition, and my vavles are gonna be adjusted, but I was wonder if any of you guys had any knowledge of what it might be.Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

wouu, thats crazy man, how fast was he going, he probably already redlined it when he downshifted to second. You got a crazy buddy.

Fourth gear redline to second gear would have mated the valves with the pistons. *shudder*

I assume that cylinder 1 has a gas soaked plug? Try just changing the plugs first.

i remember that happening to my cuz's civic with gsr motor...same thing, a friend of his shift from 4--->2 i forgot what he blew
but i think it was the welds on the intake manifold
oh yea it cost him $400 to fix it

I'm curious as to how one shifts from 4 to 2 accidentially. A 3 to 2 or 4 to 3 misshift seems possible. A 4 to 2 shift just seems intentional.

The intake manifold would be the least of his worries.

listen to this guy, im pretty sure a mechanical or physical command (ie engine talking) supersedes an electrical one (ECU or computer in car talking).

actully this is a pretty common misshift when you are running through ur gears whiling going to redline. 4 > 2 is known as the money shift

How? When shifting from fourth at redline, I'm looking upwards for fifth. Second is down. The misshift would be first or third gear.

Yeah, I find a 4 > 2 mishift weird. Was he trying to hit 4th from 3rd?, and missed? Going from 4th to 2nd is retarded and there is no way it happens unless intentional, it makes no sense.

Hahaha... rev matching my ***...
Anyway, good luck with the repair. I'd let my female frd drive my car and that's it. Guys tend to have a "beat-the-crap-outta-it" attitude when driving someone else's car.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. I'm sorry but I just can't believe this rev matching accidental crap. When going through the gears there should be no reason why you would ever go from 4-2. The other examples I can believe but NOT 4-2. You really have to try or just be completely incompetent about driving stick to do that.
The others are right too....bitch slap him
