There could have been a number of things that went wrong. Personally what it looks like to me and I could be completely wrong. It doesn't look like the car was staged straight down the track which was causing it to start to drift to the right in first gear. Than he hit second gear and the power came up pretty fast and the car started to spin the tires which caused it to drift a little more to the right wall. Than the driver started to correct and let off the gas which caused the car to hook back up and sent him towards the left wall.

Just got back from Waterfest to see this..... damn really sucks!! I hope Mel is ok and they get there program going in the near future.
Hate to say it, but the chassis looked it wasn't good at all from the beggining when I seen it go down the track. The car couldn't stick the power to the ground and would always unsettle between shifts. I have some other comments, but I'll keep it to myself.

yeah 800hp stock motor is a bit far fetched. wheelie bar should have been used for sure. looks like even at the launch the rear end was hopping
