Need help my girlfriends friend put dirty oil in her gastank!!!!
my friend put almost a gallon of dirty oil in her gas tank thinking it was gas in her tank and drove it about a mile and than it just stopped. i know hondas pretty well so i think i can fix it i have the gas tank pulled and thats bout it. what do i need to look at to fix this any advise would help. oh if someone can help me ill send em some $ in the mail. cuz its saving her $. thanks
the fuel filter could be clogged, as well as the injectors. basically i would check all the fuel related parts.. fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines, fuel rail, fuel injectors. oil is pretty thick compared to fuel.. so the reason why the car stopped running could mean things are clogged.
That friend isnt a friend and needs to be put down.
If your lucky and it didnt get past the filter then your good. If it went past your basically fucked.
Edit: Actually if it got to the fuel filter in the engine bay your fucked because its in the lines. and youll never beable to get those out. So hope its only stuck in the little filter in the fuel pump.

Clean the tank and all of the lines to and from the gas tank thoroughly with engine degreaser.
Change the filter on the fuel pump along with the fuel filter.
Send the injectors out to be cleaned.
Once all of those parts are cleaned/changed and reinstalled, I would run a can of Seafoam through the engine to aid with cleaning out the oil in the combustion chamber.

It obviously reached at least the fuel filter if engine performance was affected.

I've removed fuel lines from Hondas, cleaned, and reinstalled them.

what are the chances that the oil got past the fuel filter in the engine bay. because the motor did shut off... usually wouldnt the engine shut off if the filter got clogged. i guess the car kinda sputtered out "kinda like running out of gas".... so i dont think it got to the motor. how hard are the fuel lines to pull out???

What did you use when you cleaned the lines. Just sprayed degreaser in it and let it sit or something?

i think you're okae. just change the fuel filter and clean out your tank. The reason being is fuel is a good solvent for oil and should break it up over time if it didnt damage the fuel pump.

Yes.
What made you say that they're impossible to remove?
Yes.

You are using two wrenches, correct? Sometimes I read someone's trying to do it with one, yikes. Flare wrenches are nice if you got em. Eat your vegetables and torque that ****.

I figured since oil was all grimmy and **** you couldnt be 100% sure to get it all out also being hard lines you only know one end for another. But its good to know that its easy to clean.
