if the motor you are getting is obd1 the 99-00 harness wont do you to much good. you would still have to convert it to obd1

no what i was referring to was getting a obd1 harness then no wiring should have to be done

car=obd1
engine=obd1
harness=obd1
ecu=obd1

that^= not much wiring to be done

here are your options:

1) buy a 96-98 EX harness = $200+
2) wire up vtec on ur harness = Time and some reading

u can't use a 99-00 civic ex harness, well u can but the cluster doesnt work properly.

if the motor is OBD1 then u will have to cut off some of the obd2 plugs and wire up the proper obd1 plugs. if the motor is obd2 then its all plug and play w/ that 96-98 ex harness.

telling us what car, year and what motor (obd1 or obd2a or b) would help out.
if we don't know then someone might be selling u the wrong stuff.

92 civic should be vtec ready, it should be pre-ran (cabin) from what i have read. all he would need to do is convert the single o2 wire into a 4 wire and run the vtec wires.

that or he can just get any 92-95 civic ex/si harness and its all plug and play.
