Replacing Stock Stereo
Does anybody know how to remove that whole black dash piece so that you can get to the stereo and replace it? This is on a 92 Accord EX 4 door sedan.

First, you remove the screws on the side of your console. You have 2 on each side. 1 in front, one in back. {You will have to slide the seats all the way up untill you can access them}Then open your console lid and take cover off in the bottom of the console storage area. You will find 2 screws. Remove them. Then remove the ashtray. You will find one screw behind it. Remove. Then pull your emergency brake up and slide console toward the back of the car while lifting up on the rear. Once removed, you will find a screw on each side of your gearshifter holding the black cover on at the bottom. Remove these screws and pull the bottom of the black cover your referring to,toward you. Also be sure to pop the emergency flashers button out and unplug. I cna't remember weather there is a screw behind it or not. Anyway....once you have the black panel removed, there are two screws on each side of the Stereo. Remove them and your golden. Good Luck!!
so i have to take out the whole center console thingy to be able to get the stereo out? that seems like quite a ton of work! is there anyway of doin it without removing the whole center piece?
I work at a dealership and that is the fastest way Its possible. It's realy not that hard at all. Without sounding corny as hell............just remember......if it came apart, it will go back together.
now when you remove the center piece, between the seats, does it have a break point in the middle? does that just lift up? anyways, so far this has been helpful other than i dont know about the middle piece thing. thanks

damn thats the long way i removed my stock cd player in 8 mins... okay pull out the ashtray... u should see a bracket with 3 phillips screws.. remove that.. then the ashtray bracker come out.. remove the lil bulb on the ashtray bracket by twisting it.. so you can have a little more room to work with.. after that look up u should see 2 gold 8mm bolts... it was a bitch to get to.. so i took a ratchet with a phillips tip on it and ratchet away the bolt with a phillips tip.. its like a ratchet and socket but instead of the socket u get the screwdriver tips onto the ratchet.. i got it for 20 bucks at radioshack then returned it lol..
anyways then i yanked radio out side to side and it came out.. it was pretty fun..
