Default Intake Options

I just bought a 2002 Accord EX, I would like to get an intake, either underhood or cold air. I have owned all Acuras, this is my first Honda, what gains should I expect from a AEM CAI? I am guessing 10-12hp? So the AEM Short Ram 5-7 typically?

If I go with the CAI, which I want to, how deep water do you have to drive through to get it wet? 1' or 2'.

Thanks.....

Your not going to gain 10-12 hp just from a cai, or 5-7 hp from a sri. If you really wanna get a cai and don't wanna worry about going through water then get an aem bypass valve and you won't ever worry about it. Although what i did is i just bought a $10 sri off ebay then put a good k&n filter on it, and ur set to go.

i personally think REAL CAI are over-rated

id rather save my money and just buy a regular short-ram and maybe rig up a ram-air

You'll get 5hp tops regardless of what kind of intake you use. Intakes are more for sound than anything else. There not much of a performance enhancer at all....

ur a dumbass...intakes are not just for the sound...intake is a vital upgrade that will contribute to the perforamnce of your whole engine and any future modifications...saying intakes r just for sound is like saying rims r just for looks(and if u r getting ur rims just for the looks alone ur a ******* ricer and should'nt be concerned about racing...same with only buying a intake cuz u think its just there to sound good)

no sir, your the dumbass and ricer.

maybe if your gonna have a power adder or heavily modify your engine N/A, then an upgraded intake would be an obvious mod. but placing so much emphasis on something that,at least on our engine, will do so little: the most it does IS add sound.no noticable gains in hp! you cant feel 2-3 hp unless your on a damn lawnmower. stupid ricer.

and since you seem to be in your own little world where everything that anybody does to there car absolutely HAS to be about racing (ricer) ,FYI, i dare say the majority of pple who buy rims are for looks alone and by using such a blanket statement such as <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by goowakjai &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">(and if u r getting ur rims just for the looks alone ur a ******* ricer and should'nt be concerned about racing)</TD></TR></TABLE> that just confirms your own ignorance and blatant riceness.

So your saying that the expected gains for a CAI is minimal. Then why would I waste my money for an AEM or other brand name and just go with a cheapy no name? I have seen no name CAI for under 100 that were nice, not junk. Or with a cheapy ram air setup.

Other than the ricer argument thanks. Also how loud we talking on an Accord?

Thanks....

i bought used an AEM blue CAI for a 75.00. i did it just for sound too. its much louder. loud enough to turn heads if you mash on it around 3000 rpm. short ram is deeper tone than the cold air.

but ebay's work just fine too it'll be 100% louder than stock.

just get an intake off ebay, replace the filter with a K&N, and call it a day.
