hey guys, well i had this problem a few months ago in my stock 89 dx and when i took it in the shop they fixed it claiming all they did was change the spark plugs. so when the problem came back i changed the plugs and it didnt work. the problem is that when my car starts the engine revs high no matter what gear its in and then when it idles sometimes it seems like the car is dying out like its not geting fuel. the check engine light comes on but i havent checked with cel code it is cause im not sure how. all help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

ok im not positive if this is the right way to check the code on your vehicle but if your car is obd0 i think it is. on the passenger side pull back the carpet , there will be a steel cover take that off and there is your computer . there should be a little circle with a led light visible below it turn your car to the run position do not start well u can but ur car wont start right now . it should start blinking long blinks count as ten quick ones mean one add them up and tell us what it is .

AS i said before im not positive if this is the correct way for your car you need to tell us what year it is hope this helps and if anyone else knows for sure how to do it please post

 

Yes that is one way to check it, but short blinks equal 1 and long blinks equal 10, so if u get 1 long blink and 5 short blinks = 15, 4 short blinks = 4. Very simple, theres charts everywhere that tell you what the blinks mean. Good luck with it
