fix A/C or get a new I/H/E?
what yall think? fix my a/c which im not sure how much it will cost, probly around a 1000 or spend that much on an intake, headers, and cat-back?
I just cut the blet on my 85's ac pump, when I changed the other 2 belts. You might want to convert your AC compressor for onboard air. It's really handy to be able to run air tools from under the hood.
Oops wait a minute that's my jeep forum. I recommend junkyard parts and having it charged. cost a lot less.

if i could do the I/H/E for 7 to 800 i would but i cant find the components i want for under 900 bucks unless i get some crappy stuff off ebay. Yeah its very hot down here but i lifeguard at a pool alot so im always usually shirtless in the car with the windows down. plus ill only have to deal with the heat a couple more months, so by then hopefully ill have some more money to tackle the a/c. sound like a good plan?
i tried to recharge the freon on my own. was doing just fine until i heard a hissing noise that got progressively louder as the freon recharged. it finally must have blew some gasket somewhere cause there was a really loud air leak noise and the air went hot again in the car. so there's no telling if the gasket is in the compressor or somewhere else in the system. i think nopi has rebuilt compressors for like $230 if that turns out to be what i need.
It sounds like you blew out the seals on your compressor. This just happened to mine last week to mine and it ended up costing me about $800 to repair it. I would be fixing the a/c was before doing a i/h/e. But that is just me. Good luck
Also DO NOT waste the cash on a rebuilt compressor. They don't last long at all. Genuine Honda is the only way to go. Yes it is much more expensive but it will last a much longer time and will be worth the price in the long run.

this should be your choice honestly. everyone has their own preferences. my ac doesn't work well so i don't even run it and i live dallas tx. i have basically been without ac for 4 years. yeah i sweat but i don't drive through the day until its lunch time or when i leave work for the day. i prefer performance over comfort. i get a kick out shocking other 4 cyclinder and non-turboed cars. i even took out a turboed ford deisel once. yeah he was heavier than i was, but hey i beat him in a wagon.lol.

You should just take it to a shop and have them figure out what's wrong first. That hissing noise could be coming from a lot of places. Mine was leaking from the pressure sensor on the high side line. I took it to a shop and they replaced the sensor. They also had to replace the reciever drier and the expansion valve because they were both clogged. It ended up being about $500 total.
Your A/C problem may be something easy like an o ring. Let people who know what they're doing look at it. A/C problems can be difficult to fix without the proper equipment.

They replaced the compressor with a brand new one from Honda and recharged the system.
I tell you what it works much better now. I don't have to run the system on full blast anymore, I usually have it set on 2 and it is comfortable inside even though its 105 outside.
