B16a leaking oil from head-white smoke running at 7psi
i have a b16a in my crx. i recently added a turbo. the car ran fine before that. no leaks. now after i boosted it. stock internals. stock everything that came with the motor, it smokes white and happen to notice ALOT of oil from under distributor. it looks like its coming from the head gasket, leaking ALL over the transaxle. I just orderred a Mr. Gasket .030 multi-layered head gasket. i did a cold compression WOT check with the following numbers:
#1=150
#2=165
#3=165
#4=150
i also happenned to notice that the smell of fresh oil as the car smokes????
if anyone can help it would be a stress RELIEVER!!!!
thanks

White smoke is coolant
blue smoke is oil
black smoke is fuel or something burning
You probably have a blown head gasket.Causing an oil leak and coolant leak into the cylinders. Those numbers are low for a b16.

since i have put on turbo, the car over heats ALOT is it possible that the head has warped and is causing oil to leak through.....when a head warps does the head warp on both sides?? so i should see oil from the other side was well, if that is correct?? even though those numbers are low... is it possible the head gasket isnt blown?? and maybe just the head warped causing oil to leak on the out side and coolant on the inside???
thanks for the reply

you have a blown headgasket... the head could be warped on one side only, but it would be minimal, the warped head would be a result of verheating and blowing the headgasket
my boss was telling me his friend with a gsr turbo'd running 20+psi on a b16 bottomend-gsr topend. was causing the head to lift... would that be caused from to much pressure in the cylinders? my numbers for compression are almost the same....
would a .030 head gasket from summit fix that?

Headlifting is caused by too much pressure at the wrong time i.e. timing.Get yourself a set of ARP's.Then if your headlifts you know its because you have too much timing.
Also dont just put another headgasket on you MUST STRAIGHTEN THEN RESURFACE THE HEAD or youll have the same problem. You must also check the blocksdeck for straightness with a straight edge. Then put the head back on.

synthetic oil burns more white than blue, just food for thought. fooled me before.
those numbers aren't that low for a cold compression test. warm it up and then do a compression test for more accurate numbers.

^^Exactly what he said.
Timing is the key. Get a good tune and that will solve your headlifting problem. Don't chince out on tuning.

ok i have msd 6btm installed. supposts to retard the timing???
looking into the oil problem. the oil is going into the distributor cap and i believe that o-ring seal in the distributor is bad and i am going to replace it with a known-good o-ring.(brand new)
looking at the exhaust manifold closer i notice that oil looks like it is soaking into the x-haust manifold. (the look as if cardboard gets dipped in water) Talking to some honda buddies they mention'd that valve-guides, seals are bad thats why the oil is leaking into the x-haust!!!??
motor history-
supposidly @round 30k from japan. from osaka motors based in canada. first gen b16a yr of motor is 1991.
my car runs pretty ruff. so i am wonderring if i possibly messed up my timing.
changed spark plugs today(7.18.2005)
does anyone have information about this new info?
