Don't paint it, lamin-x it. Look at my signature.

i have luminics, its a nice yellow with mykrylon stain glass paint. The paint slowly fades, but its not a big deal to just spray it again. i resprayed like 6 months later.

See that's why if you choose to cover with lamin-x you'll never have to worry about paint fade and repaint.
Do it once and do it right.

Well if he wants amber then he's gonna have to go with the krylon spray. The Lamin-X is yellow (what I'm using as well).
not to bash, but i dont think there is the right or wrong way.
laminx is more a a true yellow, where as u can get a more amber color out of the spray.
if there was a right way itd prob be wasting money on the real deal
to each his own

IMO, from past 1st hand experiences, Krylon glass stain sucks as it looks nice at first but eventually begins to fade and chip away very easily, even with clear coat over it. But if you don't put any clear over it, it will turn dull looking over time.
The Lamin-X stuff looks like a very dull yellow IMO, but at least that doesn't chip away, but I still have seen it fade a little bit, but not as much as the Krylon.
IMO, the Vans yellow lens paint seems to be the best look and quality that I've worked with over the years. With about 2-3 good coats over the foglights, the color on the lens looks exactly like any other 'JDM amber foglight' lens. Same with the light turned on and shining on the ground. On my co-worker's car, he sprayed about 3 coats of it on his foglights in April 2004, well over a year ago. They really look no different than the day he first painted them, albight it's a little more dirty looking from bugs that hit it from driving and not being cleaned off all the way. But when people ask me what paint I recommend, I say the Vans paint.
Only pics I had readily available, using a flash on my camera but you get the idea. I'll take some pics of the painted foglights next to some real JDM foglights for better color comparason.

i have used both Lamin-x and Vans paint. i bought vans from autobacs.
both are very good products. i still have the lamin-x on my ek4 fogs. they offer better protection from rocks and chips than paint because of the material, not to mention they stick on there really good.
and then i got some smoked vans paint to paint my stock headlights and turned out really well.
but now i have real EK4 headlights.
