personally, i think carbon fiber trunks look like crap. to me, it looks like you had to replace your trunk lid w/ one from a junkyard and you were just too lazy to paint it the same color as the rest of your car.

"ooooooh, lookie, carbon fiber, that's bling bling y0." please...

jealous?? riiiight, buddy.

How much do carbon fiber trunklids weigh in relation to regular ones? The weight factor is the "reason" people use these correct? Or is it 100% looks?

x2

I can think of a lot of better uses for $500 or whatever ridiculous price it is they want for those trunks.

The weight savings are negligible for the amount you spend unless you have a full-on race car.

I guess if you're going all-show then have at it...

I guess if you don't like the look of it that's fine; personal opinion, I'll respect it but I like the look of it unpainted.

As for the weight savings: my stock hood probably weighs around 30-40lbs; my CF one weighs ~ 10lbs. I'm also getting a CF trunk w/ no center taillight. Just to compare I took the trunk springs out to fee the real weight of the trunk and that thing has gotta weigh atleast 45-50lbs if not more.

So figure together those 2 weigh ~70lbs or more. When I get the CF trunk I'll weigh it so I can factor in the weight savings from the stock one.

They way I see it is accords aren't exactly the lightest cars out there to modify so what's it hurt to shave a few pounds off the body w/out resorting to gutting the whole interior. Plus, it looks good at the same time painted or not.

I want one for weight issues. And even if your gutted for free, the cf trunk is still lighter than the stock one.

Has anyone ever seen the Accord with the carbon fiber roof?
I think it was a 4th gen but it may have been a 5th gen.
