I have a 93 civic cx and i dont have the holes in my door to put the thin side moldings in. I was just curious how other honda-tech members did this without cuttin holes in the door and the fenders. Is there a way to fill the moldings?

 

They didn't do it if they didn't have the holes

i know that, im saying is there a way to put the moldings on the door even though there arent any holes. CX and VX models didnt come with the moldings. I want to put them on my car without making holes. How would u do that? is there a way to fill the moldings and maybe double sided tape them? b-c the moldings are hollow.

 

man just use that double sided tape thats really tuff, ultra hold or something...or any type of glue that would hold..cant promise that people arent gonna try to steal them

they are hollow, the sides are so thin that they wouldnt stay on. i was thinking of maybe filling it with that Oem rubber stuff that they fill the motor mounts with but i dont know if double sided tape will stick to it. I want to put the moldings on the sides b-c i have the jdm bumper with the moldings and the bumper pole.

nah man nothing ghetto....trust me my car is really clean and thats how i like things....im a JDM freak so i know what u mean...

 

Just use double sided tape. I work in a body shop and we use it all the time for mouldings. Just make sure you clean the area with a solvent or atleast rubbing alcohol. And buy a good brand like 3M. I hope that helps.

if you look at the opposite side of the molding you will see that it looks like double sided tape would not work at all. You would be looking at the molding from the outside of the car and you will see a little bit of the double sided tape.

 

i'd just cut the holes. i dont see why not. thats what i'll be doing when it comes time to put the side moldings on mine. they didnt come with them ,and i'm going to make it to where it does. just take some primer or touch up paint where the holes are to fight off rust. the double sided tape or glue just seems 1/2 assed to me.

 

what would u cut the holes with? seems difficult to me....

 

Drill a small hole then use a hand file to make the hole square.

use the right diameter whole saw on your car.

 

Passwordjdm sells a set of thin side moldings with tape instead of the clip type so for those of you out there that want moldings without the holes on your door then there you go. Just make sure you use alcohol to clean the surface or else they wont stick for crap.

 

Nevermind bro, I just hit up there site to see if they still had it. But they dont, sorry. Check around online and ebay, you mite find them.
