Default 1988 Honda Civic, Transmission Swap question

Hello,

I'm just wondering...would a 5-speed Transmission from a 92-95 Honda Civic (D-series engine) fit on my car? My car is a 1988 Honda Civic hatchback, with the crappy 4-speed.

If it does fit, could I put the clutch I just bought and the flywheel from my 4-speed on it?

Thanks,
Richard

no it will not.

you will need a "cable" transmission for a d-series. cable means that there is a cable running the clutch release, and not a hydraulic setup.

you can get a cable transmission from any civic
88 - 91 or any crx the same years. theres many vairables, and you want to make sure you have the correct input shaft spline count before you buy one.

here, this will help you

cant you just use the clutch assembly and the flywheel on the 4 sp. you will have a smaller flywheel but In theory it should work. also if he is dead set on this set up you could use a hydro conversion.
